Happy Hetalia Day!
The 26th of October!
(Also Austria's birthday, but nobody cares about Austria. Except Hungary.)
Hope you had a fantastic day!
A lot better than mine, anyway.

The reasons this is a rant chapter and not just a .5?
1-Hetalia Day Meet Up failing totally unawesomely. (Sorry Gilbert 🐥)
2-PS giving me less than 12hrs notice that we wouldn't be able to do our weekly hang-out.

This 1229 word rant was written in less than 2 hours, so please excuse any mistakes and/or rudeness. I'm currently too pissed off/annoyed to check/soften my words.

I thought I had published it Thursday night. I must've clicked save instead of publish. Oh well. It's being published now.

So...
I tried making a Hetalia Day Meet Up at the local park.
This was the first year doing something like this, so I thought, where is a place you'd most likely find Hetalians? A place where a notice about a get-together would most likely be seen?
Well, in the whole of nearby shopping centres, we have only 1 game/anime/fandom merch store, Zing. So that was the obvious place to put a poster up in.
On the 4th of September, I asked the manager if I could put a poster up in her store, joking that this is the only place where nerds go. She seemed to like the idea and said yes. It was a week or two later (My printer, ironically, ran out of ink that day, so it took a bit to actually print out the poster) that I went back in with my poster, Hetalia clearly shown, the date, time, place. I even laminated it, so it was less likely to get torn. The manager I spoke with before wasn't there, so I told the worker about the poster and he said he would give it to the manager.
On the 25th of September, I went into Zing with PS, looking for new POPs. Low-and-behold, while we were there, I was also looking for my poster, because the manager had said that there was a space near the Sailor Moon merch that would fit a poster. But the wall next to Sailor Moon now had battleaxes on it. The 28th, I think, I went into Zing with a new laminated poster. Again, I explained it to the worker, they said they would give it to the manager. On the 6th of October, Hetalia Day now only 20 days away, I went in delibrately just to check if my poster was up. Again, checked the store. No poster to be found.
Just in case of that, I had brought another poster with me. Turns out the worker this time... Was someone I knew! She had been in the year above us in school. We had worked on 2 drama productions together. So I knew she was trustworthy. She said the manager was actually in that day, just out for lunch, so she would give it to her when she came back. I trusted her. On the 11th, I walked into Zing to check on HP merch. No poster. I gave up.

On the 15th, Moustachio convinced me to made a public FB event. I invited her and DM, PS' boyfriend. PS was a co-host. I asked Héyonće when we met up that Tuesday.
Moustachio couldn't come because her nephew was going to be born that day. Héyonće had uni stuff, so he couldn't come. DM was interested. PS had said she would come with me so I wouldn't be alone.
Finally, it was the 26th! The meet-up was at 3:30. I had three different games planned. Pin the moustache on Germany, Randomly select a country on the map and name a fact about that country (either Hetalian or landmass), and Trivia questions.
But when I got to the shopping centre near the park (which had free wifi, which I used to check FB), there was still nothing from anyone. I messaged DM asking if he was going, because he was still 'Interested' and nobody else on FB had said anything about it. He got back to me and said he wasn't, because he had uni stuff. And PS couldn't come because of reasons (below).
To be honest, I kinda felt a bit put off. I mean, yeah, I wasn't expecting Moustachio, and DM was iffy. But PS was the one that I thought was definitely going to go. Because we had been planning it since before September.
So after getting to there an hr early, then messaging everyone and finding out they couldn't come, I turned around and went home. I didn't even both checking to see if anyone had actually rocked up, because most of my FB friends weren't into anime, or the ones who were into anime weren't into Hetalia, and the cosplaying strangers that I hoped we would make friends with wouldn't have come, because Zing didn't put the (3!) posters up.
I was disappointed about this Hetalia Day, to be honest.
And kinda glad I hadn't made the chocolate scones I told myself I should make. Because nobody would've eaten them. I shall make them tomorrow and drown myself in chocolately sorrow.

Now for the reason PS couldn't come.
Because PS and I usually had our Thursdays as Anime Day, I messaged her on Wednesday, 10:12pm, saying "Anime (and Hetalia) day still good?" just to check. I honestly was expecting a 'Yes', because Thursdays were our day, and we had been planning Hetalia Day for months. But instead, at 10:29...
✉️    Sorry, I can't tomorrow. I'm going around to ---'s because I'm housesitting for her until Saturday.
📚    Damn. That's ok. 🙂
Really, what else was I suppost to say?
"And when were you going to tell me you were busy tomorrow? When did you know you were going to be busy tomorrow?"
"You do know you can leave the house while housesitting. You don't have to literally sit in the house all the time."
"Less than 12 hours before the usual meeting time of 10am. *sarcastic* Thanks for the notice!"
Yeah, I was a tad annoyed. Still am, really.
I mean, yes, all well and good that she's housesitting. But why couldn't you come to the park? You can leave while housesitting. Did you forget about Hetalia Day? Or even our Thursdays? Because if you did, that's fine. Just admit to it.
I've tried to give you notice as soon as I know I'm not going to be able to come. It's unfair? mean? rude? to not even mention 'Oh, I won't be home on Thursday' before that Wednesday night.
Yes, I've cancelled on short notice, but that's because it was short notice. I just found out I wouldn't be able to come, and told you as soon as I could, between 1 minute (Got a call-in to work, and messaged her after I hung up) and 2 hours (Left my phone charging at home when Mum said 'We're going to have a family night tomorrow'). I don't know how much notice you had, but for housesitting, you had at least a day's notice. It wouldn't have been a spur of the moment's thing. So why didn't you tell me earlier?

Happy shitty Hetalia Day, BD. Fucking hope next year's is better.
