Dad;

I drove you to the point where you would leave for hours on end and disappear without a word; just a fistful of anger.

We clashed harder than symbols, with daggers and bullets for words. A constant string of tension and hatred all woven together- a deadly combination.

I used to wish for a father who cared, and would take me out to places like those in the fairytales. I wished for a father that would encourage and cheer me on as I strived to do my best. I wished for a father who would accept whoever I bought home and talk to them for hours on end, treating them like they were part of the family.

Instead, I got one who was the first to break my heart. At first, I wasn't familiar to the feeling, the deep ache in my chest as you spat your venom; your hands reaching for my shirt and grabbing the material in a tight fist.

This wasn't my father...

This wasn't my father...

Oh but it was...

I'll never be your perfect daughter, I'll never walk in your shoes and set down the same path like you force me to. I'm not like you. I have my own path, my own set of shoes, I'm my own being, and if you can't accept that;

you're not my father...

sincerely,

the one you broke;
your daughter x
