My eyes met yours - your forest green orbs softening as you looked down at me. You eyed me with a hint of curiosity, like I was something you'd never seen before; like you'd found a diamond in the dirt, or a speck of gold in some rubble.

I froze, unsure of what to say as a hurricane of words flew around my mind, most of them being discarded as rubble and broken pieces; as they were too stupid to announce.

You gave a small smile and said hello, taking the words that were lodged in my throat and unblocking the building catastrophe.

I tripped and stumbled over the words that fell from my lips in reply; but it didn't seem to bother you in the slightest. Instead, you gave a light chuckle and pulled me into your arms, your cologne hastily dancing in circles around me, along with the warmth of your embrace.

Your heartbeat was swift and hit hard against your chest, and I couldn't help but smile.

You weren't mine but somehow, for some unknown reason, I couldn't help but feel like you were...
