After her father's fingers had grasped her throat so tightly, she stumbled away and frantically hid behind her quickly closed door.

I raced after her and knocked lightly, slowly pushing open the door after hearing no response.

She lay there curled up in a tight ball, no sound coming from her shaking bones.

She was a shattered mess broken by the man who was supposed to be the first to ever love her.

This was no home for such a beautifully delicate rose who was still striving to bloom.
