I woke up in the bedroom.. I have no idea how I got here because I could have sworn I was sitting on the couch watching anime with Matthew. I got myself off the bed and to find Matthew sleeping on the floor asleep. Boys look so cute when they are sound asleep. I tipitoed my way to the bathroom and closed the door behind me. My hair looked so crazy, I looked through the cabinets to find a comb. I found one and combed my hair out slowing, it went into its normal soft curly style so i decided to leave it down for today. I opened the door and I bumped into Matthew.
''Oh I didn't even hear you wake up, you scared me.'' I said looking up at him.
''Didn't I tell you, I'm a vampire? I never sleep.'' He said smirking.
''Yeah yeah Mr. Johnson.'' I said sarcastically.
He stuck his tongue at me and I made my way to the kitchen to see if I could make myself some breakfast. I opened the refrigarator and it looked like the groceries were really fresh.
''Are you sure your cousin barely comes here? Because the groceries are awfully fresh for a person who doesn't come...I know he's a tourist and all but yeah...''' I said.
''Well let's just say he drops in when he has to..'' He replied.
''Mhmmmm okay...'' I said thinking. Eh, I'll just drink some coffee and call it a morning. I looked through the cabinets for the coffee mix. I found some coffee called Folgers I hope its good as Jamaician coffee. I took out some milk from the fridge and sugar from the counter. I poured the milk into a coffee cup and put it in the microwave, set it for 50 seconds. Matthew came in the living room and turned on Good Morning america. We weren't actually that far from the place where they air it. It's in New york, Ny, times square. I've been dying to go to times square I never been there but someday I will.
The microwave beeped and I took out the coffee cup carefully and placed it on the counter.
''You want coffee?'' I said
''No I'm fine, thanks for asking though.'' He said drawing his attention back to the TV.
I added the coffee mix and sugar to the milk and mixed it swiftly. I tasted a little of it and it was tasteful. I grabbed the cup and walked over to the couch and sat next to Matthew. I sipped on my coffee slowly so I won't burn my tongue.
''So the speech is tomorrow...'' I said.
''Yeah, so we are going have to practice memorizing it and presenting it...'' He replied looking at me.
''We should practice now.'' I said setting the coffee on the table.
He picked up his bag on the side of the chair and looked through it , until he pulled out the speech. He flipped through 2 pages until he found the page he was looking for.
''While you were sleeping, I edited some of the speech and followed what you said so tell me what you think.'' He said.
I read the page he told me to read...
''People consistently said that their greatest aspiration in life was to be a good parent — not exactly the stereotype some might expect. When asked whether their money helps with that, they answered with all the obvious: good schools, travel, security, varied experiences. But when we asked how their money gets in the way, that was a payload. We received response after response on how money is not always helpful. They mentioned very specific concerns, such as the way their children would be treated by others and stereotyped as rich kids or trust fund babies, they wondered if their children would know if people really loved them or their money, whether they'd know if their achievements were because of their own skills, knowledge and talent or because they have a lot of money.''
''It sounds really good, I never would have thought of that'' I said smiling at him.
''I'm just a genius you know?..A sexy one.'' He said smirking. What a flirt
I playfully slapped his shoulder and laughed.
''Well sexy genius..you need to put a comb through that hair of yours.'' I said giggling. I ran my fingers through his hair to fix in a little. Then..our eyes met..I looked at him and he looked at me with those sincere eyes of his, our faces were a few inches close to each other so close to kissing.
''Umm, so you want to help me memorize it?'' I said moving away from him.
''Uh yeah sure.'' He said running his hands through his hair. Things became akward as it already was. Matthew phone buzzed on the table and he answered a call. ''Excuse me for a sec.'' He said getting up.
Matthew's POV
''Hey Dad...''
Dad: How are you son?..
''Couldn't be better, why are you calling?''..
Dad: I just wanted to check if everything was okay with you. How's school?
School's fine..how's Kathy?
Dad: She's good..about that we're having a big dinner party and I want you to come and so does Kathy. You should bring a friend or something. The dinner party is two weeks from now.
''I'll see if I'm not busy and I'll let you know if I can come...
Dad: Okay son..I'm going to let you go now.
Bye Dad. *hangs up*
I made my way back to the living room and sat on the couch with Becca.
''Is there something wrong?..'' She said.
''No it was just my dad, he was just checking up on me. He invited me to his dinner party and he said I could bring a friend....so I was thinking that maybe you can...you...know...go..with..me?'' I said shyly.
Her cheeks turning ruby red..
''I would love to.'' She said smiling.
''Now help me!'' She said waving the speech around
''Okay okay.'' I said chuckling...
