The next morning I woke up after a bad night sleep. "Let her be gone... let her be gone..." I whispered to myself while getting ready for a morning jog session in the park, although it was only 8 AM. I walked downstairs while gathering my hair into a bun, I could smell some food. "Nick?" I asked, walking into the kitchen. But it wasn't Nick who was making breakfast... it was my mom. She smiled at me. I am making you... something. I sighed deeply. "If this is your way to make things better, please don't. I don't feel like it." I put my earphones in and walked to the door. Elena please... we have to talk! She called after me. "No we don't... I have nothing to say to you." I opened the door. It is about your father! I stopped in my tracks and turned around. "Mom... please. I don't want another scene like yesterday and I won't change my mind. Like I told you, my mother died when I was 2." I walked outside and closed the door behind me. with my music on high volume I started with my weekly jogging round. 10 kilometres in 1.5 max. Because of my anger I did it in an hour, which was an personal record. I didn't go home, I went to Rosalee's spice shop instead. "I hope they don't mind me blowing off some steam." I muttered to myself. Though the shop wouldn't open till 10 AM, I saw Rosalee and Monroe walking around and I knocked, Rosalee opened the door. I am sorry but we don't open... oh, hey Elena. She smiled at me. "Can I come in?" I asked. Of course, come on in. She let me through and I smiled, walking in. "Thanks... I know it is a little early." That's all right. Did you go jogging? I nodded. Well. Rosalee smiled. Then I think you would like a cup of tea. I smiled. "I would love to." She walked to the back of the shop, Monroe walked to me. Hey! Nick just went to the hospital with the potion. "That's good..." I said, sighing. "I can't believe this is happening..." That Adalind is a witch, and now quite literally. He said and I chuckled. But don't you have to catch up with your mom? I mean... she just came back from the death. Monroe said and Rosalee came back in, giving us the tea. I sniffed. "I don't want to talk to her." Why not? She asked. "Because she left when I needed her the most. I had to grow up without her... we both had to grow up without her." I took a sip. She is your mother Elena... I am sure she did it out of love. "That doesn't make up for the fact that she let us believe she was dead." I frowned. "I just... can't forgive that." What about Nick? Monroe asked and I shrugged. "He talks to her... listens. I didn't speak to him yet." I know it looks hard... but you need to talk to her. If you don't, you'll maybe never know the reason why she did what she did. Rosalee laid her hand on my shoulder. "So you're saying that I should forgive her?" I asked. Just try to understand her, then after that you can decide what you want. Monroe said and Rosalee nodded. I sighed and smiled at them. "I'll try... thank you." They smiled at me and after finishing my tea, I quickly went home. Elena... is that you? Nick's voice came from the living room as I walked in and I walked there. Mom said on the couch, Nick stood next to her. The whole house was clean again. "Listen..." I began, and they both looked up. "I may overreacted yesterday and this morning..." Oh Elena... My mother stood up and walked towards me, but I took a step back, making her stop in her tracks. "Yet that doesn't mean that I trust you... I want you to tell me everything before I decide." Well, most of it you heard last night... I did it to protect you, both of you. But... She stopped and looked at Nick who nodded at her, she looked back at me. There is one big reason why I left. It is about your father Elena. You see... She sighed deeply. Reed Burkhardt isn't your father... your father is Frederick Renard, the king of the house of Kronenberg, one of the royal families...
I stared at her... just... shocked. "W-What...?" I stuttered. "S-So Nick isn't my..." He is your brother. But only your half-brother. Mom said, sighing. I promised you I would tell you everything so I will. Nick laid his hand on my shoulder and lead me to the couch. I sat down next to my mother, still shocked. "Did you have a relationship with him?" I asked, fearing the worst. No, I didn't. she said and I exhaled deeply, so the worst... "So he..." Forced himself onto me? Yes he did. She looked at me. That doesn't mean I don't love you Elena... you were my baby girl. I looked at Nick and he stroke my cheek. Let her explain. I closed my eyes for a second, then nodded. "But why...?" You know by now that the royals want their powers back. They use everything to achieve that goal. The Verrat, their human contacts... and us, the grimms. They want to use our abilities to spread fear among the Wesen world, so they behave as the royals want. But most grimms now-a-day doesn't want to be used like that. I nodded. "I can imagine that." So King Frederick came up with a new plan. What if they had a grimm in their family? Mom leaned back in the pillows. They only needed a female grimm first. "So where do you came in?" I asked and she sighed. I was in Vienna that time, to get something which was stolen from Reed and me. The royals had set a trap for days with Verrat agents, and the moment they realised what I was after I killed a few of them, they kidnapped me. I frowned, it was hard to believe that my mom, who had been on the run for so long, got kidnapped that easily. But in her eyes I saw that it was the truth. I will spare you the details, but I got pregnant. I frowned. "How did you escape?" There are people of the resistance working for the royal family, they got me out when I was 35 weeks pregnant. They brought me home, Reed and I went into hiding. I bit my lip. "Did he know...?" What I was? Yes he did. He wasn't even angry at me. She smiled at the memory. You were his little girl Elena, he saw you as his own daughter. She took my hands, and this time I didn't pull away. The royals know you're alive, they will do everything to have you. You can't let that happen. I nodded. "I understand..." The Verrat can't know about you. One of their biggest assignments is bring you back home. You're legitimized as a real princess and reported missing since the day I escaped. "Did the royals know how you were? Did they know your name?" I asked and mom frowned. I don't know... they never asked but maybe they knew. I sighed deeply. "This is fucked up..." I groaned. Haven't we been through worse? Nick tried to make a joke and laid his arm around me. I leaned against him. "True..." Then I remembered Nick went to the hospital. "Did the potion help?" He sighed. We only know when she wakes up. Rosalee is looking through books to find a way how. I nodded and looked at my mother. Yes, I was still angry at her, but now I knew why. If she didn't leave us behind and the royals or Verrat found us together. "I am sorry for my reaction mom..." I understand. She smiled and stroke my hair. And even though I regret it, I really have to go again. "Where are you going?" I asked. I am going to destroy those coins. I nodded. "Be careful..." You too... She kissed Nick's and my forehead. Protect the ones close to you, so you won't make the same mistakes as me. We'll keep in touch. She smiled one last time and walked out of the door. I sighed deeply. Don't tell me you'll miss her. Nick grinned at me and I smirked back. "Shut up..." Then I turned serious again. "I just can't believe..." He seemed to understand what I wanted to say because he pulled me into a tight hug. Don't overthink it... no matter what happened, no matter who you real father is, I am your brother and I will always love you. I suppressed my tears and buried my face against his chest. "I love you too."
