Chapter Twenty Nine

Two days After last Chapter

Died like a Hero

Basically everyone at the church was standing around the grave that Ace, Max, Dante and I made for Bobby.

Cassi and Shadow even brought some flowers that they found.

Edwin stood next to Kiera.

"Many of us didn't know Bobby, but from what I did see, and from what I heard from everyone who did know him, said he was a good man, an honourable man. Someone who should be seen as a role model for this community. He died a hero, he chose to die, just so we could keep going. If that isn't a good way to go down. I can't think of another way that this!" Edwin said walking away and throwing a pile of dirt on the sheets that has nothing in it.

I stepped forward.

"I was the last person he spoke to, if I tried harder, maybe he could still be here, but. I wasn't strong enough." I took a deep breath to calm myself down.

"I watched people die, we all have, this world is kill, or be killed, But Bobby didn't like those options, so he choose to die to save others. He knew that if he kept trying to get me to pull him up, then maybe I could've fallen in. He survived Major Skeleton, he survived the Tank, he saved my life from the bandits. I just wish I got to repay that debt to him." After a small pause I finished.

"One of his last words was that he asked me to protect his sister, to keep Kiera safe, and he died with that wish. I'll be damned if I'm gonna let anything to happen to Kiera, or anyone in this community!" I spoke softly.

I threw another patch of dirt into the sheets.

Three Days Later...

Kiera has been hiding out in her tent ever since Bobby died, which is understandable.
I sat at the breakfast table with Dante, Charity, Ryder, Maya and Ace.

"So, Charity we never officially met before" I spoke eating the eggs and beans that we were eating for breakfast.

She nodded her head.

"True, I met your siblings, but I was told that you are the leader of the new Scvanger group?" She asked me.

I nodded my head and smlied. I was glad they began to see me as leader around here.

"Yes, however we're on a temporary pause until Max, Ace and I are ready to go out again" I spoke glancing over to Ace.

"Good, you leading a second team means it's harder for my team to find loot!" She said jokingly.

I smlied and shurgged.

"Yeah, well we're good at what we do" I spoke.

"Yeah, until you got Bobby killed!" Dante remarked.

We all stopped dead in our tracks.

"Dante! Seriously?" Maya asked.

Dante stood up grabbing his crossbow that he had lying on the table.

"Fine, whatever, I'm going hunting!" He said walking away.

"So, Ace. Jayce told me that you were becoming a pilot?" Maya asked.

Ace nodded and spoke with a full mouth of eggs.

"Yes, however I mostly did it because women love a man in uniform!" He spoke.

Maya wipped the eggs that we're all over her face from Ace speaking.

"Charming" she spoke with a disgusted face.
