Old Friends
JayceOn our way back to the tank, We picked up our truck. I drove our truck from the Tank with Maya, while Bobby drove the military truck from Fort Black with Ryder.
"So, you and Ryder?" I asked smiling.
"Shut up!" She said looking out the window.
I nodded.
"Yeah, your Ryder's type, If my parents were still around. They'd like you, just saying" I shrugged my shoulders.
Maya turned to face me.
"Thanks Jayce"
"No seriously, the two of you are perfect for each other, besides I need someone else to keep an eye on the lug head."
She laughed.
"You jealous?"
Without taking my eyes off the road I answered.
"What? Of you and Ryder? No. No offense but your not exactly my type, and I'm just glad Ryder has someone to help him threw this"...
We drove up to the Tank, and waited for someone to open the gate, within a minute at the most the gate opened and Max waved us inside.
Max and Dante helped us unload.
The four of us climbed out of the truck and Max approached Ryder.
"What happened to your wrist?" Asked Max.
"Uh, I was bit, but I feel fine" Ryder said holding his wrist in his left hand.
Max nodded.
"Must be those cures, they work like a charm" Max smirked.
Ryder smlied
"Yeah, they do"
The rest of us continued to bring all the items into the main hub, we unloaded what we found, crates full of ammo, a few new guns, a crapton of cures and even a rocket launcher.
"Dude! Why didn't Fort Black use these agasint the zombies!" Max shouted eyeing up the rocket launcher.
"Ok, we done?" Bobby asked, as he and I brought up the last items from the trucks.
Maya and Max orgiazined what they could, while Ryder went to take a nap, we had no problem with the fact as he does have the injured wrist.
"Yeah, I think so. Why you got something else to do?" I asked.
Bobby was walking out of the room.
"Yeah, I want to check on Kiera, see how she's holding up, mind helping me find her?" Bobby asked.
"Yeah sure." I started walking towards the exit of the Tank.
We searched the hallways and what not in the direction of Kieras bedroom.
Bobby knocked on the door.
"Kiera?" He shouted.
He knocked again.
"Kiera, open the door, we're back!"
In a few moments Kiera responsed.
"Yeah, I'm coming!"
Kiera opened the door, not all the way but just enough so we could see her.
"Hey, can we talk?" Bobby asked.
"No!" She tried to slam the door in his face, but Bobby was too quick, he stopped the door with his hand and pushed it wide open.
Inside Kiera's room was as we expected a bed, a dresser, a few weapons and ammo. But there was something else, or rather someone else.
It was James, sitting on Kiera's bed.
He smlied at us.
I saw the flames in Bobby's eyes build up.
I realized where Bobby's thoughts were going, but it doesn't look like they were doing anything.
"Bobby, hold on!" Kiera said trying to hold her brother back.
"Get out!" Bobby yelled at James.
James, was confused, he stood up and tried to talk Bobby down.
"Calm down, we were just talking, I literally walked in the door ten minutes ago man, I would never–"
But Bobby cut him off.
"YOUR A GUEST HERE! YOU DON'T GO NEAR MY SISTER!"
Kiera stood between Bobby and James.
"Bobby, just back the fuck off!" She warned.
"OR WHAT? DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE! TEN MORE MINUTES AND HE COULD'VE BEEN–"
But James spoke up.
"Or what? Jeez who do you think we are? I would never touch your sister in anyway unless she gave me permission"
This just made Bobby flare up even more.
Kiera was trying desperately to stop this before it started.
"Bobby, get out!" She yelled.
But it was to late.
Bobby started advancing on James, ready to punch him in the jaw.
I couldn't move, I couldn't muster the strength to shut this down.
"Hey! Guys we have a problem!"
Max entered the scene.
"What's going on?" Max asked.
Bobby took a deep breath, lowered his fists and turned to answer Max.
"Nothing, what's the problem?"
Max started walking out the door.
"You will have to see it to believe it!" Max started sprinting down the hall, all of us followed him.
He brought us to the roof of the Tank, Dante, Ryder and Maya were already up here.
"What's going on?" I asked them.
Dante and Ryder didn't respond, but all three of them stared to the field in front of the Tank.
Maya just pointed towards the field.
I turned to look, and what I saw. Well I'll be honest, it scarred me shitless.
In front of the Tank was hundreds of the undead, all knocking on our front door.
They were working on breaking down the front gate, I watched as the fence started to shake.
"How did this many just show up?" Kiera asked.
Maya gave the only intelligent response.
"Something must have led them here, could've been noise, I'm not sure"
Then we heard the sounds of a ghost, in the distance I saw a helicopter flying towards the tank.
When it got close, it started flying above the herd of zombies, the sliding doors opened and Major Skeleton stood on the helicopter, holding a bullhorn.
"This is what happens when you kill my men, and my second In command! Before I kill you all I'm giving you a chance!"
During Major Skeletons speech, I watched Dante disspear as he ran back inside the Tank.
Major Skeleton continued.
"Maya, you and Ryder can come back with me, to safety!"
A bullet whished by the Majors head.
"Fuck you!" Maya yelled, smoke raising from her sniper.
I have a feeling she meant to miss.
"Fine, if you are not coming with me. Then your staying with them, to die!" Major Skeleton screamed.
The sliding door opened wider and it reveled a mounted turret.
"Last chance?" The Major warned.
"Fine! Take them" a voice yelled.
We all turned behind us to see Dante standing there holding a rocket launcher, pointed and aimed right at the helicopter.
"But your have to get me first!" Dante yelled as he fired the projectile towards the helicopter.
It hit the back wing and the helicopter spinned out of control until it crashed somewhere in the forest nearby.
"Let's go! Grab everything we have and get to that front gate!" I yelled.
We all ran into the hub, and loaded up with as much weapons and ammo as we could carry.
We all stood together next to the doorway that would take us to the front gate.
"Everyone ready?" I asked.
I didn't hear any no's so I assumed they all thought yes.
"Ok, here we go!" I loaded my shotgun and kicked open the door, into the horde of the undead.
Into my certain death.
