Micheal Skeleton
"Sir?" A voice called.I was half asleep in my bed in Fort Black, I've been the Major for around twenty years now, so me being woken up in the middle of the night is not something new to me.
"Yes private" I answered.
I looked up to see it wasn't a private at all, but actually young Noah, who was a janitor who worked at Fort Black.
I rolled out of bed and sat up rubbing my head.
"You don't need to call me sir, I'm not your commanding officer Noah" I stood up and got dressed into my proper Milatry dress uniform, completed with pants, boots, plain white undershirt, button up shirt and a hat.
As I walked out of my bedroom Noah handed me a fresh cup of coffee. Plain black coffee, just the way I liked it, none of that extra shit in it.
I sipped on the coffee as we walked into the control room.
"What's going on?" I asked my Soilders as I walked onto the control room, it was 3am so this must've been good.
Private Gillion, one of our best soilders currently sat in front of the computer, there were two other men in the room by the computer as well.
"Shouldn't Harvey be operating the computer?" I asked.
Gillion spinned his chair around, also with a cup of coffee in his hands.
"Yes sir, he should be he wasn't feeling to good, he went into town to buy a few personal items eariler and some crazy guy bit him on the arm, we're gonna have the doc check him out in the morning"
Poor Harvey, but it was fine, Harvey will probably just need a shot or something from the doc.
"So why am I here then?" I asked.
"Command called, wanted to talk to you, apparently it was important" Gillion spoke getting up from the chair to let me sit.
I sat down, and clicked the "call" button which resumed the video call we were having with Command.
"Please identify yourself" the man asked.
"Major Micheal Skeleton, ranking officer of the Fort Black training and defense facility"
We manily ran drills here, and prepared Soilders for the war, but due to our location we also acted as a Defense point for the country should we come under attack from another country.
Frankly that has only happened once in my twenty years of experience, and it was a missile testing that went wrong.
"My name is Major Winters, head of Command"
I saluted, as did all my men behind me, even Noah, who really didn't need too.
"At ease Major, please sit this is important" Winters spoke.
I sat down and asked.
"What is it sir?"
"Hard to say honestly, as of yesterday a deadly diease made its way through the country and has infected human hosts"
I was concerned and interupted him.
"Sorry sir but, we aren't diesase control, shouldn't you be alerting them?" I asked.
"We already did, we're telling Milatry outposts to begin gathering civilians for safety, already 2% of the countries population has been infected and we need to save the people that haven't been infected yet"
"What about a cure? Is there one?" I asked.
"No, although CDC has developed a way to slow it down, I've already sent you the step by step instructions to making it yourself"
