Chapter Forty Five

What We've Become
Jayce

I gave Dante a huge bear hug, and then moved over to Ace, I wore a large smile.

"Glad to see you both made it" I smiled.

Dante grabbed the boy, and brought him to his feet.

"Good to see you too, anywhere we can put this kid while we talk?" Dante asked.

I nodded, and walked inside the Ranch, Ace grabbed the kid who had his hands tied behind his back with a rope, and we walked inside leaving Cassi and Dante outside.

I watched the door close to the Ranch as Ace and Jayce walked inside with Noah, I turned towards Cassi who had streams of tears running down her face.

I walked over to her and hugged her, she burrowed her face into my shoulder and I just held her, one hand on her waist and the other in her hair as she cried into my shoulder. After a few moments she held me, and we looked face to face.

"What happened?" She asked.

"Maya tagged along with us, Jeff ambushed us, Ryder was taken in by Jeff and they are doing is every command. Maya is completely love blind, and they attacked the church early because Ace and I escaped, they couldn't risk us warning you, as you could guess we didn't make it in time" I said wiping away the tears on her face.

"How about you?" I asked.

Cassi shook her head sadly.

"I found a blood trail by the river, it was Ryder's, and then the next day, they attacked people started dying left and right, I watched Billy get, uh, and then Jayce, Shadow, Charity and I made it here, but Charity, she, she just passed away, maybe a hour ago" Cassi spoke.

"Did you see anyone else escape?" Cassi asked.

I shook my head.

"No, I found Kiera though, they killed her, then tied her to a lamp pole as a warning, last I saw though they were keeping Jerry alive, not sure why" 

Cassi nodded, and took a heavy breath before asking another question.

"What about that kid?" 

"His name is Noah, I knew him from Fort Black he worked under Major Skeleton when I lived there, his current base has a army and I'm planning to try to convince them to help us" 

Cassi laughed.

"Your not much of a convincer" 

"Yeah, well that's why I came here first, will Jayce be up for it?" I asked.

Cassi shrugged.

"Maybe, lets go ask him" She said as she turned and walked towards the Ranch, before she could get away I grabbed her hand and pulled her back towards me, I held her again and kissed her briefly.

"I thought I lost you" I spoke.

Cassi smirked

"You won't get rid of me that easily, but seriously we should talk to the others" Cassi said.

I nodded and her her go, as we walked towards the house.

After we tied the kid up in Ryder's old room, Ace told me the boys name is Noah, and then he brought be up to speed in everything that happened to him and Dante since they left to go on the run.
I told him everything that happened to us, and by the time I finished Dante and Cassi walked in.

"Where's Noah?" Dante asked.

I pointed up the stairs and answered.

"Ryder's old room, so what's the plan?" I asked.
