I hardly slept at all that night. I kept replaying the events in my mind, the kiss, my rejection and Snape saving my arse. I rolled over and it was only four o’clock. I sighed and threw the covers off of me. I had to clear my head. I got changed in my yellow and black robes and fetched my broom from underneath my bed. The corridors were silent and cold. It was kind of peaceful. As I made my way out into the court yard the crisp fresh air felt good against my skin. With a smile I climbed on my broom and kicked off. I hadn’t been on my broom in months thanks to Umbridge. The sun was only just coming up, making the sky a bright orange. The wind was refreshing as it whisked through my hair. The lake looked so beautiful at dawn. Even the Woomping willow looked at rest. I circled the surroundings about five times before setting down near Hagrid’s little hut. I sat pressed up against an upright rock studying my jewellery. Over the Christmas holidays Remus had redone my necklace he gave me. Now when I touched it a vivid picture of Christmas come into my mind. It has me being hugged to death by the twins and Sirius, Tonks and Remus standing laughing behind us. This made me smile and feel all warm and fuzzy inside. My eyes then moved down the charm bracelet Sirius had given me. It was old but still beautiful all the same.
“What are you doing out of bed Miss Black?” It made me jump. I looked up to see Snape standing above me. I tucked the necklace underneath my shirt and stood up.
“I don’t know felt like it.” I shrugged.
“Well get back inside.” He said stressing every syllable.
“Why did you help me last night?” I questioned. Snape looked awkwardly to the ground. It wasn’t like him to be speechless. “Severus?” I said again.
“Do not call me that Miss Black it is Snape.” He snapped.
“Fine, but why did you save me?” I asked again raising my voice.
“Electra.” He began to say.
“No, tell me!” I shouted. My words echoed through the silent countryside.
“Lupin.” He muttered reluctantly.
“What?” I was confused.
“Remus Lupin asked me to keep an eye on you. And I have now get back inside.” This was one of the angriest faces I have ever seen him pull.
“Well you don’t have to look after me anymore!” I screamed and I grabbed my broom. Is stormed passed him and back towards the castle, leaving him there reeling. Why would Remus want to keep me out of trouble? I can look after myself.
We were more careful with the sneaking around. Now Umbridge knows about Dumbledore’s army all she needed to do was catch us and we were done for. I walked in and there were only a few us now.
“Where is everyone?” I asked.
“They went, they were scared of Umbridge, and I don’t blame them.” Harry moaned. There were a few loyal Gryffindors, Luna and me. Ron and Hermione stood up; obviously they were going to duel.
“Sickle.” Fred whispered to George.
“You’re on.” George whispered back. Ron winked to Hermione and they raised their wands. Ron looked like he was about to say a spell, but she beat him to it.
“Stupify!” She shouted and with a girly grunt Ron flew backwards.
“Damn.” Fred said slamming a sickle into George’s fist.
“I let her do that.” Ron grunted as he walked shamefully over.
“Of course.” Fred grunted.
“Okay lets get this started, today, the Expecto patronum spell.” Harry said clapping his hands. We all stood around the room practising. Various animals flew around the room. I did mine, the usual shaggy dog.
“Excellent Electra!” Harry grinned. I smiled back. I saw the twins were having trouble.
“Need help?” I asked them sweetly.
“No.” George hissed back. I rolled my eyes.
“I am sorry.” I said. He looked me up and down.
“You have nothing to be sorry for. I am sorry, I told Angela, and she dumped me straight away.” George said sadly. I gave a comforting smile. Suddenly a banging echoed from outside. The room stood dead silent. I jumped back as the mirror began to crack. I felt Fred’s hand grasp mine. The mirror burst into shards on the floor. A whole was left in the brick behind it. Harry bent down to look through it. Fred, George and mine wands were all pointing towards the wall.
“I will make light work of this.” A familiar squeaky voice muttered. Harry rushed back as the brick wall was blown out into smithereens. After the dust had settled Umbridge in her bright pink outfit was standing there with her smug bunch of Slytherin’s. Draco was there holding Cho in a tight grip.
“Well get them.” Umbridge giggled. They came in grabbing us and pulling us towards the great hall. Goyle had his grubby hands all over me. I shook free of his grip when we reached the great hall. I tumbled into George's arms. Immediately Umbridge rips us apart.
“Decree number two hundred and seven, nobody of the opposite sex is allowed within six inches of each other.” She shouted. She gave her usual little giggles after. She drew up exactly the right amount of desks and chairs. “Sit.” She said in her high pitched tone. As if we had any choice. She forced us all in our seats. “Write I will obey.” She said as she sat down at the front of us all. We all reluctantly picked up the quills in front of us, knowing what they will do. As I wrote I winced in pain. It was worse this time. I was ripping into my previous scars. I let a groan leave my lips. Fred looked worriedly towards me. I nodded and continued to write. She made us do this for another hour before letting us go. As we left the great hall Cho was standing there. We all ignored her. As I finally got to my bed I bandaged up my hand again.
“I didn't see you there.” I said bitterly to Rainey. She remained quite. I angrily got into bed.
Again I did not sleep much that night. I left early in the morning; I did not want to face Rainey. As I walked down the corridors towards breakfast I heard some more sniffing. I peeked around the corner to see yet another first year who had been tortured. As they usually were Fred and George were comforting him.
“What’s your name?” Fred asked kindly.
“Michael.” The poor boy sniffed.
“It’s okay. You get used to it, see.” George said showing him is hand. Harry was also there looking annoyed. I ran over to them and knelt before the boy.
“Michael, its okay. She won't get away with this.” I whispered. He whipped a tear away and smiled. I heard a sigh come from Fred.
“Electra not this again.” He moaned. As I got up to protest, Umbridge coughed at the archway.
“As I said Mr Potter, everyone needs to be punished.” She smiled creepily at him.
“You are just an evil old witch!” I shouted at her.
“Excuse me Miss Black?” She giggled.
“You heard me.” I snapped at her. Her face feel. Georges arm was holding onto my shoulders trying to pull me back.
“What have I told you about contact with the opposite sex!” She shouted, forcing us apart again.
“Why you little…” She swished her wand and my mouth was forced to close. I leapt forward to give her a piece of my fist, but the boys held me back. She let this contact go and she departed, releasing me of her spell.
“George, I think our future lies outside of academics.” Fred said to George smiling.
“Fred I have been thinking the same thing.” George smiled back. I turned around to face them.
“What are you going to do?” I asked curiously. Harry looked intrigued too.
“Lets just say it will be explosive.” They said in unison.
