The warm air hit my face welcoming me outside. The bright sun shined down on me as I made my way to my car. My phone buzzed in my pocket as I got into my car. I started the car and pulled my phone out of my pocket.

Brittany- Shawn is back.

My heart slammed against my rib cage. I have tried to get over my ex, Shawn, but it has been impossible. Hearing his songs, being tagged in all of his tweets, and photos makes it very difficult to get over someone that you love.

I quickly texted her back.

Me- how do you know?

I put my phone down in the passenger seat and backed out of my driveway. I was on my way to Starbucks to meet up with my mom. I haven't seen her much since I started college, so we decided to have a lunch date to catch up and see each other. My phone buzzed, but me being the responsible driver I am, waited to stop at a red light go check it.

Brittney- he called me, he misses you.

He misses me. For some reason I wanted to break down and cry. I haven't seen Shawn in 6 months, I haven't talked to him in about 3 months.

"This is just so," I paused rethinking what I was about to say.

"So what?" Shawn asked.

"Difficult." I admitted. There was a small silence between us causing me to regret saying that.

"Then maybe we should break up," Shawn's voice was laced with anger and sadness. I closed my eyes tightly, i knew that was probably what we should do, but I didn't want to. I loved Shawn too much. A tear slid down my cheek knowing that our relationship was over.

A car honking brought me out of my thoughts. I realized the light was green. I stepped on the gas, and tried to focus on the road.

I pulled into a parking spot beside my mom's car. I locked my car and made my way into the coffee shop. I opened the door, I was immediately hit with the welcoming smell of coffee beans and sweet treats. I saw my mom sitting at a table beside the window. Her lips curved into a smile when she saw me. She pulled me into a warm hug causing me to hug her tightly.

"How have you been?" She asked once we pulled away and sat back down.

"I'm okay," I glanced down at the marble table before looking back up at her, "how have you been?"

"I'm good, I got a raise and paid off the house." She said with a smile.

"That's-." I was cut off by a familiar voice that made my skin get goosebumps.
