"Oh honey it's so good to see you." Karen said bringing me into a welcoming hug.

"You too." I said hugging her back with a smile.

"I'm glad you guys could make it." Manuel said as my mom and I sat down across from them.

My mom carried a conversation with them as I avoided looking at Shawn. Why did my mom trick me into coming here? She could of told me. Then again if she would of told me I wouldn't of come.

I excused myself and walked to the restroom. I took a deep breath as I looked in the mirror. The door swung open when Aaliyah walked in.

"Y/n," she walked over to me and looked up at me with concern.

I met her eyes and her face softened.

"I know it's hard to be here with shawn, but I just want you to know it's difficult for him too. He was a nervous wreck on the way here." She smiled and looked down before continuing, "I hadn't seen him that nervous since you and him went to prom together." I smiled a little at the memory of that night.

"I just wish you two would talk it out. Sitting across from each other exchanging glances isn't what you guys do. You two used to be the power couple. So happy and joyful. Of course you had your bad times, but you fought through them." She continued.

I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair.

"I wish it was still that way Aaliyah. We broke up for a reason though and maybe it will just have to stay that way." I said before swallowing hard.

"You guys broke up because you thought it was best for you two. Which at the time I agreed with, but after seeing my brother struggling to smile and laugh like he used to I knew it was the worse thing possible. You were also a wreck. I heard the way our moms talked." She shook her head.

"We should probably go back out there before they start worrying." I said making her smile a little.

"Yeah." She agreed and opened the door.

While Aaliyah and I walked out Shawn was also walking out of the men's room. He glanced at me and shook his head before walking back to the table also.

I sat down and hoped that this dinner would go by soon.

After about an hour of eating and many conversation we were all walking out the restaurant.

"So brunch tomorrow?" I heard Karen ask my mom.

"Yes, just let me know what you want me to bring." I looked at my mom confused as she spoke.

"Oh don't worry about it," Karen said with a warm smile. I always loved karen. She was so sweet and caring.

"So I guess we'll see you guys tomorrow." Manuel said wrapping his arm around Karen.

I hugged Karen first and then Manuel, Aaliyah smiled and she brought me into a hug. I stopped and swallowed hard as I stood in front of Shawn.

"Y/n," the way he said my name made my heart race, "can we please talk?" He said meeting my eyes.

"Now?" I asked pushing my brows together in confusion.

""I thought we could just catch up." He shrugged and shoved his hands in his pockets.

"Didn't you come with your parents?" I asked.

"'No I drove separate." He said nodding over to his Jeep.

"Uh," I looked over at my mom and she nodded her head, "Yeah."

Shawn and I walked side by side to the all too familiar vehicle. Shawn unlocked it as I walked over to the passenger side. I climbed in and stretched the seatbelt across my body.

Shawn backed out of the parking spot and pulled out of the restaurant. After a few minutes of Shawn driving and an awkward silence he finally broke it.

"How have you been?" He asked glancing over at me.

"Good, I got a job at the diner that I'm working at to make enough money to try to get into the college." I said mentally cursing myself for telling him that.

"I thought you were going into college when I left." He said coming to a stop at a redlight.

"Yeah, that was the plan, but then dad got really sick so all of our money went into that. Then he passed away so the rest of our money paid for his funeral." I said looking down at my hands that sat in my lap.

"I'm sorry." Shawn said softly.

"It's not your fault. It's no one's fault." I shrugged.

"I should of been here for you." Shawn said making me look up at him. His curly brown hair was styled differently, it was a messy style but looked neat, his arms had gotten muscular along with the rest of his body. His style changed from flannels and khakis to button up dress shirts and black skinny jeans. He looked so different, but it was a very good different.

"Shawn it's okay." I said shaking my head. "How was tour?" I asked looking away from him and looking straight ahead at all the busy traffic.

"It was amazing. It was so surreal." He said smiling. He looked so happy and proud.

"You've come so far." I said smiling.

"You were there with me through it all." He said looking over at me with a side smile.

"Somebody had to give you good songs to do covers of." I shrugged.

He laughed a little, "somebody also had to give me inspiration for songs."

I tried to ignore the butterflies fluttering in my stomach at his words.

Shawn came to a stop causing me to look up.

"Oh my god," I said in shock. Shawn had brought us to the old hang out that we discovered when we were in middle school. "I haven't been here in years." I said getting out along with him. The last time I had come to this place was when shawn and I first broke up. I was missing him so much, and I thought if I came here it would help. It didn't.

"Me neither." He said kicking some of the rocks.

"How long are you back for?" I asked looking up at the stars.

"Until October." He said making my head turn to look at him. It was a pretty long time.

"That's good." I said shrugging.

"Yeah," he said sighing. "Look y/n," he came to a stop in front of me, "I've missed you so much, when we broke up I was a wreck without you. I honestly didn't think I would make it through the tour," he looked down shaking his head, "as pathetic as it sounds I didn't know what I was going to do without you. We had been together for 4 years. I had gotten so used to being with you and being able to call you mine. We did everything together," he said looking back up to meet my eyes, "I know that you did what you thought was best, but-," I cut him off.

"It wasn't what was best," I confessed before looking down and sighing I looked back up as I continued, "I thought that it would benefit the both of us. You wouldn't have anything tying you down while you were on tour and I would be able to just focus on school." I sighed.

"I know that you probably dont want to give us another chance and I know you probably don't love me anymore, but-," I crashed my lips on his before he could finish. He kissed back passionately as he cupped my face with his large hands.

"I still love you." I said pulling away breathlessly.

He smiled before kissing me again.
