The once warm meal that I had prepared for Shawn had turned cold. I sat on the creme color couch in our living room, this wasn't the first time Shawn had been out with the guys without telling me, but it was the first time he had forgotten our anniversary.
2 years we have been together, and he still knows how to make my heart skip a beat, but lately he hasn't been around. He hasn't held me in his arms,
or kissed me in the morning when we wake up in the same bed. I miss the boy that told me he loved me, kissed me with passion, actually spoke to me.My phone vibrated on the wooden table signaling I had a text. I was surprised to see that he had texted me.
Shawn- I'm on my way home
Read 10:53I sighed and turned off my phone. I got up from the couch and decided to put the meal I made into containers and eat them another time, by myself. I washed the dishes, and cleaned up the kitchen. I changed into a pair of gray sweatpants and a old concert T-shirt. By the time I was done Shawn was walking in the door.
His brown hair was slightly messy, his eyes had dark circles under them, his eyes had a red tint to them also. I swallowed hard and walked up to him.
"Hey Shawn," I said softly getting his attention. He looked up meeting my eyes with his light brown ones. He looked at me and shook his head slowly.
"Why are you still up?" He asked in a raspy voice.
"Uh," I took a deep breath to keep myself from snapping, "I just wanted to see you before I went to bed." What a great lie, I thought sarcastically.
"Well you see me." He said pushing past me to walk up the stairs.
"Do you even know what today is?" I asked raising my voice slightly.
"Monday?" He said in a questioning tone.
"Yeah, but the date Shawn." I said feeling slightly hurt and aggravated.
"September 2-." His face turned from stone cold to soft. It was like he finally realized it.
"Y/n I'm so sorry. I-I forgot." He said trying to grab my hand. I pulled away and shook my head as my eyes filled with warm tears.
"I need to go," i said shaking my head and turning away. I grabbed my coat and keys and made my way to the door.
"Y/n," I could hear Shawn walk towards me, "please, I'm so sorry." He begged.
"2 years Shawn. That's how long I have loved you, these past 2 months you have been ignoring me, staying out all night, passing out on the couch, Shawn we don't even talk anymore." I finally said what I have been wanting to say. There was a small silence showing that he had nothing to say.
"I'm done Shawn." I said before slamming the door and going to my car. I didn't realize that it was pouring down rain until I was jogging to my car.
"Y/n wait!" I heard Shawn yell from behind me.
"Please just let me explain," Shawn begged as he reached for my hand. I turned around and looked him in his eyes.
"What is there to explain? You forgot our anniversary Shawn! Did I mean anything to you? Do you not love me anymore?" I know I sounded clingy, but these eyes had been lingering in my mind for weeks.
"You mean everything to me y/n! I love you so much, and I know I've made a mistake, one that I will do anything to make you forgive me. Please don't leave." Shawn begged. The raindrops falling from the dark sky rolled down his face and made his dark brown hair turn black and cling onto his forehead.
I loved Shawn way too much to give up, but I don't want to have him say all this and then he doesn't change. I looked down at the concrete under me and wiped my eyes.
"I love you too." I finally said as I looked back up. And for the first time in weeks, Shawn actually wrapped his arms around me and held me close to his body.
He placed a kiss on my head, "I'm going to try to be a better boyfriend, you deserve so much more than what I did." He said. I pressed my head against his chest and sighed softly hoping he would keep his word.
