"Yeah I played hockey for a while," I shrugged before taking a sip of the ice cold water.
"Really? I used to play too." Shawn said leaning forward on the table. He crossed his muscular arms and leaned his body against them. His grey v-neck shirt hugged his biceps while he moved.
"She was the best player on the team." Maddy said making me shake my head.
"I wouldn't say that." I said looking down at the chicken Alfredo in front of me.
"She was." Maddy said making eye contact with Shawn.
"So how long have you guys been together?" I asked before taking a bite of the pasta.
"1 month tomorrow." Maddy said wrapping her arms around Shawn's and resting her head on his shoulder. I swallowed and nodded.
"So are you in college?" Shawn asked as he tore a piece of the bread stick.
"Yeah. I'm majoring in journalism." I told him as he listening to me closely. His eyes watched me as I spoke making me very self conscious.
Maddy's phone rang causing her to excuse herself.
"You guys are really cute together." I said. Shawn sighed and nodded his head.
"So what kind of music do you listen to?" Shawn asked.
"Well I kind of like anything that sounds good. My main is alternative, soft rock, and pop. Some country too." I said. "What about you?" I asked.
"Pretty much the same thing." Shawn said laughing softly. I smiled and took another sip of my drink.
Maddy came back a few minutes later with a worried expression. She grabbed her purse and put it over her shoulder making Shawn and I look at her confused.
"Is everything okay?" I asked concerned.
"Well my sister let the dog out and now no one can find him, so I have to go find him," she said sighing, "Shawn I don't think you want to come over to my house, um y/n," she looked at me with worried eyes, "can you give Shawn a ride to his house?"
I looked at Shawn shocked and then back at Maddy, "Yeah, of course."
"Thank you so much." She said and hugged me. She pecked Shawn's lips and gave him a quick hug.
"And then there were two." I said once Maddy left. Shawn laughed lightly and started to eat his food.
"So tell me a little more about yourself." Shawn said.
"I'll just give you random facts," I said using my fingers to count them off, "well I listen to music pretty much all the time, I want to go to Tokyo one day, I have an older brother, huskies are my favorite dog, and I am terrified of the ocean."
"We have a lot in common." Shawn said before sipping his drink, "I'm also terrified of the ocean."
"It freaks me out because there are so many things out there that no one knows about." I said shaking my head.
Shawn nodded in agreement and said, "and plus it's so dark and you can't see a damn thing."
"Exactly." I agreed.
It was weird how much Shawn and I had in common, and how we just vibe together.
Maddy was definitely very lucky.
