he brought the glass up to his lips and let the burning liquid roll down his throat. his body was numb, he had no control over what he was saying or doing. he was on his second bottle of whiskey. he drank to take away the pain, but it usually just made him think more.
"i want her back," he mumbled before taking another sip.
"we've been over this shawn," shawn's friend said from beside him. ian knew shawn missed her, but he also knew that they weren't good for each other. they were in a toxic relationship, and they needed to stay away from each other.
"i will have to start over with someone new. i don't want to do that." shawn said shaking his head before sliding the half empty bottle closer to ian. he slipped out of his chair and paced back and forth across the glossy tile.
"she'll have to start over too. she'll meet someone that doesn't know her secrets, her favorite color. she'll start over with a stranger. he won't know what she's insecure about, he won't understand why she listens to sad music when she's sad to make her feel better, he won't listen to her cheesy jokes and laugh. he also won't appreciate her beauty when she first wakes up. her hair that's messy, her face that isn't covered in makeup, it's just her natural beauty. he won't comfort her the way i did when she was stressed or upset. he won't understand her!" shawn yelled before punching the wall beside him causing a dent to be left in the wall.
"shawn," ian sighed and walked over to his frustrated friend, "it's over shawn. you're just going to have to face it. you'll realize that this is for the best, it won't be now, maybe in a few weeks, maybe even months, but you'll realize it. you will also move on. you'll meet someone else and learn all their secrets. the same goes for her. but until then you need to calm the hell down and quit drinking so damn much."
"i miss her." shawn ignored everything ian had just said and collapsed onto the kitchen floor. ian ran his fingers through his hair and turned away. he couldn't handle shawn right now. the only one that could ever handle him when he was drunk was y/n. ian took a deep breath and turned back around to face him. to ian's surprise shawn was actually crying.
for the first time since the breakup shawn wasn't yelling or cussing, he was showing his more sensitive side. his face was emotionless, he just stared at the floor as tears rolled down his cheeks.
"she's gone ian." his voice was soft and raspy. ian looked at him with sympathy.
"it's going to be okay shawn." ian tried to comfort shawn by patting his back.
"eventually." shawn said letting out a small breath.
