Kayley

"Hey, I thought I told you I would come to Adan's after school," I said as I approached Rayne during my lunch break.

"I know but I couldn't wait another few hours to hold you in my arms again," he said as he took me in his embrace against his car. I grinned and kissed him. "And I don't think you mind me being here either."

"Oh, I think it's horrible. I have no freedom anymore at all," I chuckled. He laughed and pulled me closer again, slipping his large hand under my shirt and spreading it on my lower back.

We were lost in a long kiss when I heard someone sigh heavily. "Ugh. Can't you two get a room? I really don't need to see Mister Freak making out with his brainwashed girlfriend," Liam was sulking. Looking over my shoulder, I made a face at him, but Rayne's body tensed.

"If you have a problem with us standing here, look the other way," I snapped.

"You're hard to overlook," Liam shot back.

I groaned and leaned back against Rayne. "Well, you better get used to it, because this," I waved a finger between Rayne and me, "won't stop anytime soon." Or ever. Liam's jaw clenched.

So did Rayne's. "Kayley, stop. I don't want to argue with him."

Liam crossed his arms. "For a freak at least you can say something useful at times."

"Okay, that's enough." I let go of Rayne and marched over. Liam raised one eyebrow. I stopped right in front of him, pointing my finger. "You're lucky we're at school, Liam, because if we hadn't been, you would have walked around with a blue nose for a week again." Some students were looking in our direction, but I didn't care. How many times had I told him to get over himself? He was looking at me with that self-confident, disbelieving look in his eyes and it only fuelled my anger.

"What are you trying to prove with glaring at me, Kayley?" Liam scoffed.

"You're frustrating the hell out me. I keep telling you again and again to get over yourself and you still don't seem to understand that you have to let it go. I don't like you, I don't want you. Okay? Stop being a dick to Rayne because you don't get what you want for once." I couldn't get my tone any friendlier than a snap.

"What I don't understand is why you're still hooking up with that freak. I can't fathom what the hell you see in him," Liam snapped back. "I mean, if you don't want me, fine, but seriously Kayley, you don't have to prove your point to go with the freak of the town."

Rayne had probably waited at the car, but as I growled, I heard him gasp. Just before I yanked my fist in Liam's face once again, Rayne circled his arm tight around me, clasping my arm tight against my body. "Remember when you told me not to do something I would regret?" His voice was low in my ear. I wanted to hit Liam so bad. But I knew he was right. A frustrated breath escaped my lips, but I stopped struggling.

Liam was glaring at Rayne. "You turned her into this, remember that. You ruined her."

I felt Rayne's body tense, his jaw clenching and it infuriated me. "No, you are making me do this, Liam! You are acting horrible to the person I love and you have no idea how much that hurts! You get me on the edge and way over it! And instead of stopping with it, you only make it worse," I was seething. "So, don't blame Rayne for what you cause!"

Liam's eyes shifted back to me. "You and I both know you have never acted like this before you knew him. You were kind and happy. Look at yourself now, Kayley. You're raging and your eyes spit with fire. He has to hold you back, because otherwise you would attack me again. You are not the person you used to be anymore and you know it's because of him." He was calm again, even a bit sad. The pity clear in his eyes, disapproval in his voice. "I wish you could see what he is doing to you. He is turning you into the same short-tempered monster he is himself and you're too stupid to notice. Are you really that dumb?" Within a couple of seconds, he was back to angry again, his lips curled in disbelief.
