Chapter 5

Madelaine POV
After Magnus transports us Clary starts drawing on the floor so what we can summon the demon that has her memories. As all this goes on I can't help but let so many thoughts run through my head. Why does Valentine want me?What's so special about me?Is he going to kill me?What if he hurts Jace,Isabelle, and Alec to get to me? Alec stands next to me looking worried.

"What's wrong Maddie?"He asks gently. I fake a smile and respond,"nothing."He looks at me in disbelief."Bull shit what's wrong I can see right through your lies Madelaine."He says in a somewhat demanding way. "Just thinking about Valentine"I say in a quiet voice looking down.

"This again?Madelaine I told you I am going to try my best to make sure nothing happens to you."He says placing his hand under my chin and forcing me to look at him. I don't say anything after that just smile.

"Ok every one lets go but one of you do have to sit out."Magnus says looking at everybody. "I'll sit out."I say standing on the wall which happens to be behind Jace and Alec.
---skip to scene where alec gives memory of Jace---
"No!The demon deceived me its not true!"Alec says."Alec it's ok!"Izzy yells. "Do not break the bond!"Magnus yells. Its too late though Alec lets his hand go and everyone is pushed back. That's when I see Valack about to grab Jace."Jace watch out!"I scream pushing him out the way causing me to be grabbed instead. "Madelaine hold on!"Jace yells grabbing one of my arms. Then Izzy grabs my other arm and Alec does too. "Clary help us!"Izzy yells and looks at the blade next to Clary. She hesitates but then kills the demon. That's when darkness consumes my vision.

Alec's POV
"Madelaine!"I say quickly catching her as she black out. "Is she going go be ok?"Jace asks Magnus. "I don't know does she normally just lay there without moving?"Magnus says and I'm about to say something when Madelaine gasps for air and That's when the guilt consumes me entirely.

I hand her to Jace and quickly run out heading to the institute. "Alec!"I hear Isabelle yell but i ignore her.I just ruined Clary's only chance to ever get her memories back.Worse Madelaine could have died because of me.

Why are you so stupid Alec?For what?Jace is your parabatai of course you love him?He is your other half your brother. No one would think your gay because your not your in love with Madelaine idiot!

I'm just in my room when I hear a knock on the door."come in."I say and Isabelle walks in and sits on the bed with me."Alec no one blame you for what happened."She says softly grabbing my hand."It is my fault Izzy and for what so you guys wouldn't think I'm gay. I don't like Jace in that way he is my parabatai and i didn't want anyone to think otherwise. Im a selfish jerk. I could have been the reason Madelaine died!"I yell letting out all my fusturation. "Alec we can't always be perfect and as for Madelaine she is perfectly fine and she doesn't blame you for anything."She kisses my cheek and walks out. A couple minutes later I hear another knock but instead of hearing my response the person just walks in and my eyes widen and I look down when I see its Madelaine.

"Alec can you look at me please?"She says. I remain silent looking at the floor. It looks like she had other plans though because she sits right on my lap and forces me to look at her. "I'm so sorry Maddie I can't believe i risked your life like that. You must hate me now."I say."Alec if I really hated you do you honestly believe I would be here in your room. On your lap. Talking to you?"She says and I chuckle. "Still you could have died and that would have been on me."I tell her. "Alec Izzy told me why you did it and I know your not gay Alec he is your parabatai of course you love him. He might be an idiot but everyone loves him Alec. Now stop feeling guilty about what happened and let it go its in the past ok."She says.

I relax knowing the girl I love doesn't hate me and I smile at her."Now can i stay here tonight we both need some rest and I don't really feel like being alone."She says and I grin nodding my head quickly. We take off our shoes and jackets and lay down falling into a deep sleep cuddling each other.
