Chapter 26

Madelaine's POV
I just finished running my stele over Jace's iratze rune and now we are just sitting there in an awkward silence

"I'm sorry" he says and I look up at him. He is looking at me with guilt in his eyes and i sigh

"For what Jace?" I say and he stands up before walking to me kneeling down in front of me holding onto both my hands.

"For everything. Look I realized I haven't been the best brother lately and I'm sorry. When you passed out in my arms I freaked and when you died. I-I never felt that way Madelaine. I can't lose you. I'm so sorry. I swear that the only time I left your side When you were unconscious was to clean up or eat. Yesterday before you woke up Clary came in panicked and scared. She said Simon was missing and I told her I would help her. When I came in and saw you awake I was so happy. When you left and told me that I chose Clary over you I felt broken b-because you were right. I chose someone I barely know over my own blood. I'm so so sorry Madelaine. I hope you can forgive me." Jace says and I look at him

"It's ok Jace I'm just glad your ok. I-I had a dream and Valentine killed you and Izzy and Alec. I can't live without you big brother." I say hugging him tightly as he returns the gesture.

"As much as I want to stay here with you I'm sure Alec is going crazy without you." Jace laughs and I roll my eyes.

"I'm sure he is ok" I say and Jace snorts. "I'm his parabatai I can feel his emotions Mads" he says and I sigh before letting him go and walking towards the exit

"Maybe we can go out later for food just you and me" I tell him and he grins. "That would be perfect. How about at 8?" he says and I nod before making my way to Alec

When I get to his room he is pacing around running his hands through his messy hair. He didn't hear me come in so I decide to sneak up on him

I run and jump onto his back catching him by surprise as he stumbled a bit losing his footing causing both of us to fall

"Really?" he groans looking at me causing me to look at him with my best innocent face.

"What?" I say and before he can say anything I get up and run yelling "Catch me if you can loser!"

He quickly gets up but I slam his door shut before running to the training room. I hide behind a shelf and at that moment I hear footsteps come in.

"Madelaine I know your in here somewhere!" I hear Alec say and I peek my head a little from one side of the shelf and squeal in surprise when two hands wrap around my waist from behind.

Alec then throws me over his shoulder before running to his room and throwing me on his bed. He then jumps onto the bed on the spot next to me and we spend a good 2 minutes laughing

That's when I face Alec and his eyes flicker down to my lips causing me to subconsciously bite them making Alec groan.

He then scoots closer planting a soft kiss on me and that's when the door opens and a shriek is heard.

I pull away from Alec and look to see Izzy covering her eyes. "STOP MAKING OUT!!" She yells before running out the room causing Alec and I to laugh again

It's been hours and Alec and I haven't moved. We just talked about random things and a few kisses here and there

That's when I look at the clock and see its 7:30 . I have lunch with Jace! I quickly scramble up from the bed

"What's wrong?" Alec asks frowning "I have to get ready!" I say looking around for my left shoe.

"For what?" Alec asks in confusion. "Lunch" I say still looking for my shoe

"With who?" he says his voice changing. I decide to mess with him a little bit so I turned around and smirked at him

"A guy....." I say and his eyes turn cold. "What guy" he says his voice hard and he is clenching and unclenching his jaw.

"Someone. He is pretty good looking" I say and that must have set him off because he walks over to me grabbing my waist and pulling me close

"Your not going. Your My girlfriend." he says before kissing me roughly.

His lips then travel to my neck and he  bites down on a specific spot making a soft moan slip out of my mouth. That was sure to leave a mark

" Only I can make you feel that way" he whispers lowly right in my ear causing a shiver to run down my spine

"Only you I promise. Btw it was Jace that I'm going to lunch with I just wanted to mess you. Love you" I say quickly giving him a soft peck before walking out his room and getting ready.

"Remember that one time when we were like 6 and you tripped and fell and busted your knee. Alec was quick to help you and he carried you all the way back to the infirmary even though you could walk. I swear he has been in love with you forever."Jace laughs and I can't help but join him.

It makes me happy that Jace and I are finally getting along again. We were talking about funny moments as a kid and somehow we ended up talking about Alec.

All of a sudden Jace's phone rings and he frowns before picking it up

"Hello?" he says slightly annoyed but then his facial expression turns serous and there is worry in his eyes.

"Were on our way." he says quickly before getting up. "What's wrong?" I ask standing up and he sighs running a hand through his hair

"The institute has been under attack" he says and I freeze.
