Chapter 42

Madelaine's POV
We walk down a long narrow hallway and I hear a noise. "Clary the corner now!" I hiss and she quickly runs there while I press myself on the wall opposite of her

"Madelaine and Clarissa come out!" I hear Valentine say and I can see Clary glance at me with fear

But I was sure he wouldn't find us since we were well hidden. Suddenly a sound was heard.

Drip. Drip. Drip.

My eyes widen and Clary looks horrified as blood from my wounds fall to the floor

Drip.Drip.Drip.

I see Valentine smirk and turn around walking in the direction we were in. I shake my head at Clary signalling to not move

I look down a bit to see a small tiny puddle starting to form. I could also feel myself getting weaker

I press my hand as hard as I can on the wound and it stops dripping but the other ones were still sliding down my skin. I sigh under my breath as they don't Drip to the floor

Valentine walks right past us with a confident smirk and I roll my eyes at his confidence.

Clary tilts her head to the side motioning for us to move but I shake my head

Valentine heard the sound so he knew we were around here so it wasn't safe to get out.

I peek my head slightly and see Valentine turn a corner leading to a different hallway and turn my head the other side to see no one there.

"Lets go quick" I whisper to Clary and she nods running out and we walk down a hallway in the middle but take a quick left when we hear footsteps

We had no idea where we were so finding the exit was hard. We suddenly get met with a dead end in the hallway but there was a window

"Move back!" I say and I make my whip into a staff before slamming the window causing it to shatter with a loud noise

Suddenly multiple footsteps were heard running in thus direction and I push Clary in front of me

"Go first! Go!" I say and she quickly climbs out and I follow her drawing a rune to prevent the guys to come out through the window.

I look around to see a door and know they were going to run out through there so I take Clary's arm and run into the dark woods in front of us

"Where are we?" Clary asks looking around. "I have no idea. I don't know how we are going to make it to the institute." I say lensing against a tree as I feel the blood running down my back

I draw another iratze but it still didn't work so I simply drew a strength rune so I can have some strength

"Come on its not long until they find us here" I say and Clary nods as we begun walking again

A few hours later we see a city and it was very familiar yet so foreign. I look around to see a mini shop and I hand Clary some money to get us both a change of clothes as I hide in an alley

She comes back with two pair of black skinny jeans and two grey v necks

We then change thankfully gamoured so no human can see us if they were to walk by. And before you say something Clary and I are both girls so......it didn't really matter

Clary also got a black sweater which I was thankful for so I could hide the blood as I had tied my torn t-shirt around the wound before putting on the new clothes.

"Ok so we're going to need to find a phone or a map so we can either find out were we are or get in contact with Alec or Jace." I say and she nods as we walk around.
