Chapter 52

Alec's POV

I watch as Madelaine sighs clearly tired. We have been trying to figure out a way to get to Idris but nothing seems to be working

"I'm going to go make some coffee" Madelaine says standing up dusting off her pants as she walks out the room

I run my hands through my hair. "I'm going to go check on her" I say as Jace and Izzy nod

I walk to the kitchen hearing the sound of coffee brewing in the machine.

Madelaine sat there rubbing her eyes slightly as she sighs.

"Maddie" I whisper softly as her head snaps to me. I slowly walk up to her gently pulling her up.

I wrap my arms around her as she rest her head in my chest hugging me back

"We're going to find a way" I whispered into her hair. "Alec it's been hours and were no closer to finding a way to get to Idris without looking suspicious" she says as she looks up at me

I move loose strands away from her face before placing both hands on her cheek. "We are going to find a way" I say in a hard tone

She nods leaning up slightly pressing her lips against mine as I kiss her back eagerly

We stay like this for a few seconds before she untangles herself from my arms as she pours the now ready coffee

She pours four cups before handing me two as we walk back to Jace and Izzy

As we sit down Jace and Izzy fidget slightly. "Ok we came up with two plans" Izzy says as Madelaine and I nod motioning her to continue

"The first one is that Idris has that big library that has all those facts about demons and what not that the institute doesn't have. We could say we went for research on a demon iver there" Izzy says and I raise a brow

"And the second one ?" Madelaine asks and Jace speaks up this time. "Well if they don't let us go there because of the library were going to have to portal there without them knowing and try not to get caught" Jace says

"Are you crazy? Idris is guarded to the max. They will know if we portal there. Plus how are we going to portal there?" Madelaine asks

"Magnus" Jace simply says and I raise a brow again. "And to get back? Downworlders aren't allowed in Idris remember?" I ask

Madelaine slumps back in her chair looking extremely fusturated

"Ok I will send a fire message to the clave saying we have to urgently check the library. For now everyone get some rest" I say giving pointed eyes to Madelaine and Jace knowing their stubborn

I gently opened the door peeking my head inside of Madelaine's room.

Its been hours of paperwork and having to send the fire message.

I slowly walk to her sleeping figure taking off my shoes and jacket before slipping behind her and wrapping my arms around her

She twists around placing her head on my chest

"You're here late"she mumbles and I sigh running my hands through her soft blonde locks. "I'm sorry I had to finish everything. Go back to sleep love" I whisper as she mumble something in response before nuzzling closer to me

After a few moments I feel my eyes become droopy and I let sleep overcome me

"Ok wake up lovebirds. The clave responded!" Jace yells with Izzy as Madelaine and I groan sitting up

"What did they say?" Madelaine asks in her morning voice making me almost melt

"Well I have good news and bad news....."
