Chapter 28

Madelaine's POV
I roll my eyes and lean back against Alec who wraps his arms around me. Clary said she knows where the cup is and now is telling is she can theoritacally pull it out.

Were going on another mission to risk our lives probably great! I sigh and pull away from Alec

"Ill be waiting outside." I say and everyone except Alec nods. "I'm going to join you." he says grabbing my hand and walking away.

I sigh and sit down on the steps. Alec frowns at me and sits right next to me. "What's wrong love?" he asks

I blush at the nickname but still sigh. "Does it feel like we keep helping Clary but we keep getting no where closer to defeating Valentine or finding her mom" I say and he nods

"All the time." he says and before we would say anything else everyone burst through the doors.

"Lets go." Jace says and walks ahead. "Ill be back." I whisper to Alec before running a little to catch up with Jace.

"Hey" I say and he smiles at me. "Hey! What's up?" he asks and my smile falls

"Do you really think she found the cup? Or that she can pull it out of these cards?" I ask and he pauses.

"I trust her. Why don't you?" he says skeptically. "I do trust her but I'm tired of the people I love risking their lives to getting absolutely no where!" I say slightly raising my voice but everyone else is really behind so they won't hear us.

"Madelaine! After everything I don't want to fight with you! Look I love you but I have faith in Clary and if you don't want to be here then why did you come anyways huh?!" he raises his voice too

"For you!!" I yell and he looks at me pissed off. "Yeah well how about you leave because I don't need you here right now Madelaine!" he yells back and I step back a little hurt by his words. He realizes what he said and immediately has a guilty expression

He reaches out to me but I take a step back tears in my eyes. "Madelaine I'm so-" he begins to say but I put my hand up

"I'm sick and tired of hearing the same words come out of your mouth Jace" I say and run away.

Everyone but Jace is still to faraway to see anything. "Madelaine come back here!" Jace yells and attempts to run after me but I turn around a corner and lose him

I fall to the floor tears rolling down my face. My hand is on my chest above my heart as if to help the pain coming from it.

My own brother. Who would have thought? My phone starts ringing but I ignore it and it keeps ringing and ringing but I refuse to pick it up

After sitting there for almost half an hour I decide to get up and start walking around.

I just walk and walk and walk feeling heart broken. I know Izzy is worried since I can feel her emotions but then i feel weird. I feel almost light headed.

I dizzly stumble into a corner and rest my head. That's when I realized a warlock was close by. They are the only people who can do this

I clutch my head in agony as a it feels like my skull is being split into two. "We got her. Time to pay Jace and all your friends a visit little one." a voice says before I black out.
