Chapter 49

Madelaine's POV
I lay next to Alec as he plays with my blonde hair. "Mads?" He speaks up and I hum in response

"What's bothering you?" He asks and I look at him my brows furrowed. "Nothing is bothering me." I say and he gives me a look

"Yes. You don't have to tell me now but talk to me Mads. I need to know what your feeling" he stresses stroking my cheek with his thumb

I gently grab his hand kissing his scarred knuckles. "You want to know what I'm feeling right now?" I whisper and he nods his eyes shining

"I feel like I love you more and more everyday. I feel happy when I am with you or Izzy or Jace. I also feel completely terrified at the mere fact of losing any of you" I say and he sits up

"I can't bear the thought of losing you either but we shouldn't worry about that. Right now we're here together. That's all that matters" Alec says as he places his soft lips on my cheek

"Hey I will be right back I am going to go get a hair tie" I mumble kissing him softly before quickly going to my room as grabbing a hair tie from drawer before running back to Alec's room

Alec's POV
I sat facing the wall as I waited for Madelaine to return

Suddenly the door opens a few moments later and I smile "back so soon?" I chuckle and before anything else happens lips are pressed against mine

Only they didn't feel like Madelaine. It didn't feel soft and I didn't get the warm fuzzy feeling I got

I opened my eyes to see red hair

Bella.

Just as I tried to push her away the door opened

Bella quickly scrambles away and I see the tears well up in Madelaine's eyes.

"Maddie I swear it isn't what it looks like" I begin as I walk closer to her. She glares at me through her tears and walks closer

"Yeah Alec like I didn't see you lip locking with that bitch" she grits out before she is right in my face

"Maddie I swear on the ang-" I am cut off by a hard slap on the face and it was so strong my head snapped to the side

I placed a hand on my cheek looking back at Madelaine as tears freely fell down her face

"And right after I told you how much I loved you and didn't want to lose you" she whispers before running off

I turn around to see Bella still standing there. "This is all your damn fault. Get the hell out! I don't even want to see your face" I yell and she flinches

"Alec she is a monster you deserve better" She says and something clicks

"So your the one who has been feeding Madelaine with lies. She isn't a monster you are. Now get the hell out and stay away from me and my family" I grit out as she scurries off

After a few moments I hear the door open and before I have any chance to react a fist makes contact with my face and a knee was thrown in my groin

I groan in pain as Izzy lifts my head up by my hair. "You piece of shit. You might be my brother but you deserve an ass whooping. You cheated on her!" She yells and brings her fist up to punch me again but I quickly stop her

"Iz I love Madelaine more than anything. Bella just came in and kissed me. When I pushed her away Madelaine came in. I would never hurt her" I say and she sighs

"Ok have fun explaining that to Madelaine and probably a furious Jace once he finds out. Now if you excuse me I am going to make a red head pay. And it isn't Clary" she says

After she leaves I quickly go on the hunt to find Madelaine

I had to explain everything.

I couldn't lose her
