( HAVE YOU EVER BEEN IN LOVE? PART 2. )
by liamrabnud

"Who's this guy?" The bright screen of a phone was pushed in your face, causing you to groan and close your eyes. "Sorry." The guy next to you muttered before toning down the luminosity.

The first thing you saw upon opening your eyes was an Instagram picture of you and Reggie Mantle. He had his arm around you and there was a dashing smile on his face. You were kissing his cheek and looked happier than ever.

And you were happy.

Honestly.

"That's Reggie, he was my boyfriend." You spoke before pushing the phone away from your face.

"Damn, "was"? And you still have pictures of him on your Instagram?" The guy by your side was someone called Zig –you had met him while visiting some college out of state a week ago.

And now you were both in a motel room outside of Riverdale, on a Friday night.

"I haven't gotten around to deleting them." You responded while holding the sheet closer to your chest and leaning towards the night table to your right to check your own phone. It had been put on silent as soon as you checked in the motel and you heard it vibrate every few minutes for the past hour.

"So what's the deal between you two?" Zig questioned as he locked his IPhone and placed it down, focusing all his attention back to you.

Your bare back was to him and your face was illuminated by the white light of your phone as you quickly scrolled through unread texts and missed calls from friends. There were two missed calls from Reggie and you fell back into Zig's arms after noticing them, not bothering to call back and trying to ignore your thumping heart.

"Hm?"

Zig chuckled. "I asked," he pulled you on top of his naked chest "what's the deal between you and the Reggie guy?" His hand was moving up and down your upper arm, in a confronting manner. Your head was resting close to his heart and through the absolute silence, you could even make out the faint drum of heartbeats.

"We dated for a while." You paused. Your eyes were focusing on the small, monochromatic painting that was hanging above an old, squared TV parallel to the bed. "I loved him and he was something of an ass."

"Who broke it off?" Zig asked as his hand moved to your hair and he began playing with it, sending tingles down your spine.

"I did."

"That must've been hard."

"It was."

Your phone started buzzing again but none of you paid attention to it. You were too comfortable in the guy's arms and you were scared the one calling was Reggie.

So many questions were running through your mind, so many emotions were flowing through your body. You still hadn't stopped thinking about the stupid Valentine's Day quiz that revealed Reggie as the only guy in the class who had experienced love.

The quiz was wrong and you were so mad at it for having to sit through the teacher announcing to the class that you and Reggie were the only ones who had been in love.

Everyone knew you two dated and after that class your friends were treating you like a china doll and Reggie's friends were openly mocking him in the hallways.

"When did you meet him?" Zig spoke after your phone stopped vibrating.

"In sophomore year, in the library. He almost stepped on my fingers and even though he didn't, he apologized for like an hour." You smiled slightly at the memory –his gasp; the wave of irritation that hit you upon noticing his shoes just inches away from your fingers, from the clean pages of a new book; his widened eyes; your heart dropping in surprise when you noticed Reggie Mantle towering over you; him dropping to the floor and apologizing; everything you talked about for an hour on the library's floor, surrounded by fantasy books and ticking clocks.
