FACING THE MUSIC )by onemorefanaccount

Making your way through the hall, you kept an eye out for a certain dark-haired boy you were trying to avoid. A scowl took over involuntarily as your mind wandered back to the conversation you'd had with Zach only a few days ago.

Zach had crossed the line, gone further than he ever had previously. What he had said to you...what he may as well have accused you of was definitely not something you appreciated.

"Estás loco!" you almost growled, causing him to roll his eyes.

"You know I'm right."

"Me etsás poniendo nervioso,Zach!" you groaned.

"How can you not see what's happening?" he responded, ignoring your complaint.

"How can you even think that in the first place?" you snarled, referring to his previous words. "After everything-you think I would cheat on you?!"

"I never said you cheated," he denied, his frustration shining through. "All I said was that I don't like him being around you so much."

"Because you don't trust me?" you scoffed, crossing your arms over your chest.

Zach shook his head, "Because I don't trust him."

You wanted to scream, your anger was balling up inside of you as you glared at him. "What does it even matter if you trust him or not? Trusting me should be enough. There is no way anything would ever happen-you're overreacting over nothing!"

Clenching his fists, he met your stare, "You can't be serious," he muttered.

"Zach, this needs to stop!" you insisted. "We can't keep doing this-your jealousy will-"

"I am not jealous. Not of him."

"This is what I'm talking about! It is clouding your judgement and you're being unreasonable-you're reading into things that aren't even there and the fact that you can't even acknowledge what you're feeling is a whole other problem."

Hugging your books tighter against your chest as you pushed your way through the crowd of students who hurried to leave as the final bell signified the end of the day, you tried to keep your mind preoccupied with other thoughts-not wanting to work yourself up.

As you reached the library, you felt your phone vibrate. Debating whether or not to fish it out-assuming it was your boyfriend yet again-you finally sighed, digging it out of your bag to quickly find your brother's face flashing across the screen.

Answering it, you were met with a frustrated grunt, "Took you long enough."

Rolling your eyes, you stepped to the side-allowing a path for those who wanted to enter the library. "What is it?" you asked.

"Look," he began, your stomach twisting as you guessed what he was about to say, "I need you to do something about Zach-he won't stop sulking."

Bringing a hand to you face, you pinched the bridge of your nose, "It's his own fault," you informed your brother. "Zach-"

"He's sorry," Justin cut you off. "And you know it."

"That's not the point," you argued. "I just need some time to figure things out."

Justin fell silent, so silent you had to check you hadn't hung up on him. "You're not considering breaking up with him?" he asked, his shock not disguised at all.
