"I'll be there in 20 minutes!" you texted your best friend. You were going over to Zach's house, he was home alone and asked you to babysit his little sister with him. You and Zack had been best friends for 5 years or something like that, you lost count. One night he found you crying your eyes out in the park, he sat next to you and held you in his arms until you stopped crying. You were so thankful, since that day you were inseparable. He picked you up on his way to school, you made homework together, you supported his basketball games and he supported your soccer games. You had developed some strong feelings for the jock, but that little thing there was the problem. Zach was a gift from heaven, no doubt, but Zach was very easy influenced by his other jock friends. Making bets and letting him do things that weren't like him so you decided to push your feelings away and just enjoy the friendship you had. You picked your bag with make up since little Mae always wanted to do your make up and let you do hers. You got in your car and went to the Dempsey villa. Mae opened the door.

"Zaaaach y/n is here!! Did you bring your make-up? Let's go let's let's go!" She shouted while pulling you inside at your wrist. She picked you with her to her cute pink room. While running there you past by Zach on the stairs.

"Hey Zach, got to go!" you went to Mae's room, did a little chit chat with her, did her make-up, let her do yours. After you went down stairs with her when you saw Zach coming home with the pizza he ordered.

"Well look at the two of you being pretty." You ate all together and after you brought Mae to bed, you took of her make-up and put her under her sheets. When you came downstairs Zach already chose a movie. It was your favourite, the perks of being a wallflower.

"What a good choice!" you said while placing yourself next to him. This was probably the 7th time you saw it but it never let you down. Zach placed his arm around you like he did all the time. When you were together it always seemed like you were a couple but just without the benefits. Suddenly Zach was getting closer than other times, you looked confused at him when you suddenly felt his lips crush against yours, in the beginning you kissed him back but then you realised why you pushed back your feelings so you pulled back.

"Zach what are you doing?"

"y/n, I love you, I've been in in love with you for so long now. I couldn't hold it back anymore."

"I think it's better if I go, I'll see you around Zach." You say while picking up your stuff very fast and walking out the door. Zach made all you feelings come back with that simple kiss, you did so well pushing them back. As much as you wanted to be with him getting hurt again wasn't an option. You were so scared of getting hurt again. Sooner or later he would be bored with you or he would see you're no relationship material and then he would break your heart. You ignored his texts and calls for the rest of the weekend, you weren't in the mood for all this.

Monday came pretty soon but you were dedicated to avoid Zach, of course you wanted to stay friends but you had to push back your feelings first. You knew now that Zach liked you to but those feelings were probably temporary so you figured it would be better to just let it go. When you entered school you saw Zach's jock gang hanging around one's locker but Zach wasn't with them, maybe he was still training for basketball, he always looked so good in his basketball jersey.. you were lost in your thoughts when you arrived at your locker. Maybe if you had payed attention you would have seen Zach standing at your locker.

"Oh hey Zach, goodmorning." You say acting like nothing happened.

"y/n.., we need to talk."

"Yeah Zach I figured, maybe we should just act like it never happened, give me a little time and it will be okay." In your mind you were punching yourself in the face multiple times, how could you talk so heartless to him? He was your best friend.

"I don't want to act like it never happened y/n." Zach said, slightly raising his voice. "I've loved you for such a long time now and I can't hold it back anymore, I can't go another night with you sitting in front of me looking all cute and perfect and not being able to kiss you."

"I'll come over tonight, we'll talk." You say while filling your backpack and walking off to your class room. The day went by soooo slowly, you were in your last class when your phone buzzed.

"I'll drive you home, see you at my car. – Z."

Suddenly you felt way more nervous. You were going to talk with Zach, what were you going to say? That you loved him? He had the right to know but you still didn't want to get hurt. The bell rang, you picked up you stuff and walked over to Zach's car. He was already waiting next to it, the both of you got in without exchanging a word. You arrived at his house, got in and sat yourself down in his room. He followed you and sat down in front of you.

"I know I can't make you love me y/n, but I couldn't contain myself anymore."

"You already did.." you say very quit, maybe hoping he didn't hear.

"What did you say?" he asked with a confused look on his face

"You already made me love you Zach. I've been in love with you for a very long time now, and you deserve to know but I pushed back all my feelings. As much as I love the person you are I've seen you being influenced by your friends and I was and I still am so scared they wouldn't like me and make you dump me. I don't want to get hurt again Zach, I really don't." Tears start welling up in your eyes. You never poured you feelings out like that, to anyone.

"Why would you even think I would hurt you? Honestly I've seen you at your lowest days, your best days, everything and all those things made me love you even more. I know I did some pretty dumb things in the past but I would never do something to you."

"I don't know Zach. Everything I loved only caused pain before, why would this be any different?"

"Because I feel like I found the love of my life, we've been best friends for 5 years now and I loved every second of it, you never bore me, you always make me smile, you take care of me and I do the same for you. Do I have to go on?"

"You have a point.."

"Let's just try it, we don't have to rush things. Nothing will change I promise, you don't even have to be around my friends If you don't want to. I'll do anything for you." Zach says while standing up and sitting down next to you. He picks both of your hands in his.

"I will never ever let you down." He says before leaning in to you and kissing you. You kissed him back without pulling back this time. You felt butterflies in your stomach.

"I love you Zach" you slowly whisper before kissing him again. Maybe this time things would be different, just for once.
