( TUTOR ME? )
by arch1eandrews

I stood at my locker, scanning through the contents and looking for my chemistry books when I heard an almighty thud. Peeking my head out from behind the locker door, I saw Jughead pressed up against the metal doors of the school lockers by none other than Reggie Mantle.

"Just drop it Reg!" I heard as Archie ran over, and I followed behind. Reggie looked up to see a small crowd forming around him and the pale, skinny boy that he was holding against the locker doors.

"Just watch where you're walking next time, you little creep." Reggie spat, before releasing Jughead and pushing past Archie and me.

"For god's sake Jug, can you just stay out of his way?!" I huffed, scanning the boy over for any sign of injury as Archie nodded in agreement.

"I wasn't anywhere near him. It's not my fault that Reggie "I-Love-Me" Mantle is always looking to pick a fight." Jughead sighed, patting himself off and shaking his head in anger.

"What happened, are you okay?!" I heard a familiar voice shriek, and as I turned, I saw Betty and Veronica running towards us. Just as Jughead launched into a story laced with Reggie mockeries, the bell for class rang.

I grabbed my books from my locker and ran towards Chem class, shouting a quick goodbye to my friends.

"See you at lunch, (Y/N)!" I heard Ronnie shout.

I raced into the classroom, jumping into my usual seat. I picked up my textbook and began scanning through to find the relevant pages for today's class, when I heard the seat next to me being pulled out and the sound of someone sitting down. Without looking up, I assumed it would be Ethel Muggs as we always sat together in Chemistry.

"Hey Ethel, did you do the reading for this class? I didn't really get time last night, Cheryl kept us behind for ages practicing this stupid new routine for the Vixens." I sighed, flicking through the pages as quickly as I could whilst trying to absorb the information.

No response.

I looked up and was met with a very unexpected face staring back at me. Reggie Mantle.

"Erm...you're sitting in Ethel's seat." I mumbled, glancing backward over to the door to look for Ethel.

"I don't see her name on it." He smirked, his eyes boring into the back of my head.

"Funny, Mantle. Just move." I sighed, turning back to face him and rolling my eyes.

"As much as I'd like to, (Y/L/N)... I can't. On Principal's orders, I can't sit next to Moose anymore. So if I can't sit with him, then I'd like to sit by a pretty face." He said nonchalantly, not breaking his stare. His eyes raked over me as I shifted uncomfortably in my seat.

I felt a blush creep onto my cheeks, but then I remembered that this was Reggie Mantle, and not even 5 minutes ago, he'd been holding one of my best friends against the lockers whilst all of his cronies laughed.

"Whatever." I replied, looking forward towards the chalkboard as our teacher walked in.

"Okay class, settle down. Today, we will be doing something slightly different. As you know, we had a mock mid-term paper last week. Well, I have marked them and if I'm being polite, they were a disappointment. If I'm being truthful, they were terrible. Therefore, in today's class, we will be going through the various questions that most of you apparently struggled with." He sighed, as he walked around with a stack of papers in his arms. The room was silent except for the occasional slap of a marked paper hitting the desk of the student it belonged too.
