Chappie 31: Sing Your Heart Out!

“Mai, nakikinig ka ba?” Tanong sakin ni Nat, its after school and nasa Folcon kaming tatlo nina Aria.
“Sorry, anong sabi mo?”
“Sabe ko, bakit ba simangot na simangot ka jan?” Ulit ni Nat as she took a sip of her Coffee Jelly.
“Wala, naiinis lang ako dun sa play this Wednesday.” I told her as I adjusted my glasses. May play kaming papanoodin this Wednesday, the super classic Romeo and Juliet na ilang beses ko ng napanood. Okay lang naman kahit panoodin ko siya ulit but what really bugs me, is that we're going to watch it in Abbey Mount dahil Cultural Week ata nila or something, and Tom's gonna be there! I can't go! Magsskip sana ko, kaso ang mag-sskip maglilinis ng toilet! Yeah, as if I would, sinubukan kong magpatulong kay Jasper but the stupid moron wouldn't so I just hope I won't see him.

“Really? Bakit naman?” Tanong ni Aria.
“Come on Mai, it’ll be really fun. I mean, just think about the cool guys last Friday!” dagdag ni Nat. “Really Nat? Pag marinig ka ni Jacob, masasaktan yon. Ano ka ba.” Biro ko sa kanya.
“Mai naman, its not like ipagpapalit ko siya no. Syempre, its nice to look at other guys sometimes diba. Besides, hindi siya topic naten. Ano bang problema?”
“Wala naman, naccliche-an lang ako sa Romeo and Juliet.”  
“Well, you may be right, pero come on. Stereo Hearts is playing! You’ve seen them perform accapela and on jam sessions but I’m telling you, ibang iba sila during live performances. Baka nga iregret mo pa na pinaubaya mo sakin si Jacob e. I mean really! Maiinlove ka sa kanila.” She smiled knowingly.
“Oo nga Mai, tsaka ang alam ko baka magperform din si Rick, hindi mo pa siya nakitang magperform, right.” Sabi ni Aria.

Well, I heard him sing once. Yung Pangarap Lang Kita, which is saulo ko na word for word. I sighed, e ano pa nga ba namang magagawa ko? Wala na naman akong choice e, pag hindi ako pumunta I’ll be spending time with toilets. And there’s no way I will.

Wednesday, September 8 it’s after lunch and nasa Abbey Mount na kami, Aria, Nathalie and I were seated somewhere in the middle, a good seat since we can clearly see everything from there. But just as we can see everything, madali din kaming makikita, and it made me more uneasy, I’ve been looking left and right ever since we got here. Feeling ko kasi, any minute susulpot si Tom and I still don’t know how I should react. I mean it would be easy to just ignore him as Chanelly, but as Mai I’d have too much to explain if I just brushed him off. Gad! I mean, why did he have to come here. I was broken out of my reverie when Nat suddenly nudged me.

“OM! Look Mai, that guy is totally checking you out!” I slowly turned my head since I was half expecting it would be him, but before I could, Gino blocked my view and like the gangster he is, he asked the three girls that were at my right to move and find another seat and he flopped down beside me followed by George and Jimbo.

“Ano ba sa tingin mong ginagawa mo?” Inis na tanong ko sa kanya.
“Hindi ba halata. Dito kami uupo.”
“May nakaupo na jan kanina, pinaalis mo lang.”
“So? Okay lang naman sa kanila, umalis nga ng walang angal e.”
“Pano pa aangal e tinakot mo. Wag ka nga dito.”
“Bakit ba? Ang arte mo, sayo ba to para paalisin mo ko?”
“Ewan ko sayo, stop talking to me.”
“Sino bang unang kumausap? Diba ikaw.” He teased, I rolled my eyes at him and he just smirked, stupid jerk.

I looked at Mai as she argued with the guy beside her and by the looks of it the guy won the argument and by the looks of it, I guess that guy likes her as he kept teasing her, seems like even in the Philippines I still got competition. I can't blame the guy since even with the glasses and lack of make up she still looks great.

“Oy Tom, can you come here for a second?” One of my classmate called me. I nodded and followed him backstage.
“Tom, these are the Stereo Hearts from St. Margaret, they're playing too, so why don’t you guys coordinate about the instruments, yeah?” Among the five guys was Josh he nodded at me in acknowledgement. They all look friendly except the tallest guy who was frowning at me.
“Josh, didn’t think I’d see you here, so you play?” I said to him.
“Yeah, these are my friends and band mates. Si Jacob, Nick, Chris and Rick.”
“Hi, nice to meet you all, I’m Tom.” I smiled as I shook their hands but when I came to the guy named Rick he squeezed my hand too tight.
“So, you’re Chanelly’s ex.” He said.
“Well, yeah. I guess I am, you know her? I mean PERSONALLY?!” I stressed on the word personal, I’m starting to dislike this guy. He frowned before answering.
“Yeah, I’m her childhood friend.”
“Really? Your name's Rick? She never mentioned you before.” I mocked him and before he can reply Josh asked me to show him the equipments and so we moved on.
