xxiv. MORE THAN HER FAVORITE SWEATER.
he spotted her walking in the rain
after she had missed the bus
and the fallen liquid covered
the tears that continuously poured from
her eyes and drowned out the thoughts
of what ifs only to turn them into nevershe walked past her as her chin bobbed up and down
and she cried
and cried
and cried
and with hesitation
he offered her his jacket
and to come to the coffee shop down
the road
so she wouldn't catch a coldthey talked about the past
the today's
and the future
without him asking
what she had been crying about
and by god
did it make her heart warm
for it had been frozen for so long that
she never dreamed of feeling the heat
radiating within her chestthe boy left without her being able to say thank you
and she spends her afternoons in the coffee shop
down the road
hoping that one day
he'll walk in
and return the feeling
once again.
