xlvii. GRANDMA FOUND A NEW HOME.
my mother once told me,
the sun has a wonderful power
of making people feel happy.it didn't take long for me to
question what she had said
before responding,
well mother
why is that i find more happiness
in sight of the moon?she shook her head
stifling small laughtermy little lovebug
it seems you have found more
comfort in the dark than
what the sun can offer,
only a few can appreciate
what the moon has to give.when my thirteenth birthday had arrived and the
moon waved goodnight, my eyes became hazy
as my mother sobbed the floor below me.she talked to the moon as if it was an old friend of hers,
telling it all about her day
and why she had been drenched in such sadness.i swear i saw the moon frown
as my fathers named slipped from her lips
and her cries
they grew louder.my mother doesn't speak much to her friend anymore
but she tells me
that she'll never find more comfort
than what the moon can give her
and that's why she never forgets
to whisper goodnight
before the moon
tucks her to sleep.
