Alucard is sulking around as usual and accidently bumps into Zilong.

Zilong: How's your day going, Alucard?

Alucard: Horrible.

Zilong: I see that you're honest as always. You do seem a bit stressed, though.

Alucard: A disturbing creature kept following me around.

Zilong: A disturbing creature?

Alucard: I took care of the thing.

Zilong: I see. Well, see you around. And don't forget, HEROES NEVER FADE!

Alucard: Everything fades, including heroes...

Zilong: ...

Alucard: Bye.

Alucard leaves before Zilong could give him a long, boring lecture about heroes.

That evening...

Harley, who always kept his "superior child" attitude, seems to be agitated for some reason.

Zilong: Hey, is something wrong?

Harley: Yes.

Zilong: Really? What happened?

Harley: I just realized that there are strange people out there. And they're very jealous of my hair. I guess I need to borrow an autobot from Cyclops again.

Zilong: Autobot?

Harley: It's made of metal and flies around. It looks weird, but it's pretty good at protecting important things, like my dashing looks, for example.

Zilong: I can see that you're going to be just fine.

Harley: Who said I wasn't?

Zilong: You did thirty seconds ago.

Harley: Is that so? Well, enough chit-chat. I have to buy another glass cup. Alice is too careless with my belongings. Farewell, Zilong!

Zilong: See you later.

After Harley disappears, Zilong walks around aimlessly for quite some time until a scene that lay ahead pulls him back to reality. A few feet away from him, the bright, green grass abruptly met dry sand. The only things amidst the endless golden desert were a few cactuses that jutted out here and there. He continues to walk until he reaches the very edge of the Land of Dawn. One step further, and he'd be on unmarked territory. Zilong wonders what it would be like to live out there in the wild. He couldn't remember the last time he'd been outside the boundaries. He hesitantly takes a step forward. Suddenly, a bird-lion swoops down from the sky with a whoosh and lands ahead of him.

Zilong: Hi, bird-lion! You sure look strange!

Griffin: Sqoar.

Zilong: You sound weird, too.

For some reason, Zilong walked over to the bird-lion. Maybe he wanted to pet its yellow fur. It was quite the fluffy creature. And that was when everything went downhill.

Griffin: SQOAR!

The griffin lunged forward, claws outstretched. Zilong's instincts recovered faster than his mind did, saving him from instant death. He flipped the bird-lion back and pierced it multiple times with his spear. The griffin gives a loud screech as it flopped on the ground, its wings and hind legs hurt and useless. It cries out one last time before its head hit the ground with a thud. Sand billowed out, distracting Zilong from the figures in the sky. He glanced up as four more griffins landed. Apparently, the bird-lion had friends. Zilong quickly looked behind him. He couldn't go back to the safety of the Land of Dawn before the griffins tore him into pieces. It didn't matter anyway. He'd rather die fighting than run away.

Griffin 1: SQOAR!

Griffin 2: SQOAR!!

Griffin 3: SQOAR!!!

Zilong: Yes, sqoar...

Griffin 4: Moo.

The griffins circled around Zilong, who summoned his dragon powers. The golden light blinded his enemies for a moment, and he took this chance to hit one of the griffins. It "sqoared" in outrage, and the animals instantly started to attack. He just barely knocked out one griffin and deeply wounded another before his strength finally ran out. Blinding pain from his side alerted him that his lungs had been punctured. Zilong knew that his time was almost up. Either he would die from his injuries or get eaten by the griffins. He wouldn't be gone forever, but he could only come back when a king needed help. And who knew how much would change while he was gone?

Miya: ZILONG!

Miya steps out of the Land of Dawn's boundaries and immediately starts raining arrows on the griffins, who quickly turn their attention to her. Zilong knew that her heroic actions were all in vain. Miya would also be slaughtered once the griffins reached her. And it was all because she tried to save him. Slowly, his vision dimmed, and he couldn't breathe anymore. Just as he was about to die, a glowing light sparks and surrounds him, healing his wounds. Air filled his lungs again, and his mind felt clearer than it had in days. A shattering sound came from around his neck. Zilong held up the necklace. One of the lines had disappeared, leaving four more on the grey stone.

Griffin 1: SQOOAAARR!

The screech reminded him of the fight that was going on. He pushed himself up and rushed over to save Miya, who had taken out two of the griffins. The last one was pecking and clawing at her furiously. Zilong pulled the animal away. It warily looked at them both and gave a final "sqoar" before flying off, seeing that it was outnumbered.

Zilong: We need to get you back.

Miya: But... how'd you...

Zilong: I'll answer questions later.

Zilong dragged a fatally wounded Miya back to safety, looking for any more enemies as they went. Luckily, they reached the Land of Dawn before Miya bled to death outside. She immediately healed herself, and all traces of the scratches and blood from the battle vanished.

Zilong: Thank you for trying to help me.

Miya: It was nothing. You would've done the same. Anyways, how'd you revive when you were outside the boundaries? I thought that was impossible.

Zilong: Yeah, it is. The necklace saved me somehow.

Miya: That's strange. Where'd you get it?

Zilong: I don't know. It just appeared one day.

Miya: You shouldn't have been outside.

Zilong: I just wanted to see what it was like.

Miya: And that went well, didn't it? I'm going back to base to recover. Don't get into any more trouble!

Zilong: I won't.

Miya disappears, leaving Zilong to wonder where exactly the necklace came from.

Next up: Gord, the next hitler!

Apologies for changing from present tense to past tense. It became too hard to write entire paragraphs in present, so I changed midway. Hope you liked it anyways! It's a bit longer than most of my chapters and it reached 1,000 words, too!
