happy

I like noticing moments before happiness.

In that second, they are not aware of the happiness to follow. They are not aware of those fleeting moments in which their mouths will curve into crescent moons and their eyes will sparkle like fireworks on the fourth of july.

I like looking at those seconds before happiness because they are so oblivious to the outcome. They do not consider the fact that content smiles are fleeting because, in that moment, there are no content smiles. They do not realize that joy lasts for only a moment, because they are not exposed to that joy yet. They do not overthink the happiness, because they are not happy.

Those images paint the truth behind staged comfort. They represent reality. Because reality is more than wide smiles and crinkled eyes. Reality is raw, and untouched.

We are never truly happy, until someone shows it to us.
