We ran towards the sound and saw an angel standing next to a slain person leaning against the wall, dead.
"Great, more of you," the angel turned to see us. He lunged forward towards us at great speed. Void jumped in front of me and blocked the strike of his sword with his own. Kika drew her bow and fired. The angel saw beforehand and avoided that shot. I flew up revealing my wings. It surprised him allowing me to finish him with my sword.
"The rest. . . are already. . . here," the angel said as if he was choking on blood. His body turned to light and I switched my sword to a scythe.
"He's right, if he's here then so will the rest of the group," I said.
"Why would angels attack this place?" Void asked.
"They have their own foolish reasons. For now we fight against them." I saw angels flying above us. Void had the same idea of flying up, but I held his arm letting him know it was too risky. The fact that the people will see us may cause great confusion and could hurt us. I put my cloak back on myself and ran around looking for any angel who will attack anyone else.As we ran around there were already battles happening. Many were defenseless however. Those who knew how to fight, fought. There were some people who knew magic and fought back. Some students did as well.
They aren't burning the buildings, what do they plan on doing?
As we continued to run my question was answered when I saw a few angels carrying books away from the school. Stealing books? Angels can't use magic. I thought it over as I ran to their direction and came up with a simple conclusion: they don't want normal people to have their hands on the power of magic. Probably.
"Void, shoot them!" I ordered. Void loaded a bolt and fired at an angel causing one to fall. He couldn't get the other considering how far he or she was.A sound of breaking glass broke out from the school and I saw a student fall from a great height out from a window. I dropped my weapon and flew towards the student. I caught a grip on her arm and she was rather shocked to see me. An arrow whizzed past me and I heard a grunt and an angel fell behind me.
"Please be careful next time," Void said handing me my scythe.
"Thanks," I said accepting my weapon.
I placed the student standing on the floor.
"An angel and a shadow? Working together? Not killing me? I must be dreaming. . ." the student panicked.
"What is happening in the school?" I asked ignoring her questions.
"I think they plan on taking the students."
This was worse than I thought. They are attacking the town as a distraction from the school. "Why did they throw you out?" Void asked.
"I was burning the ropes that they bound us with," she said showing us her palms and that they were able to produce a ball of fire.
"We have to get those students," I said.
"There's a small group of angels within the school, I think I heard them call for more."
"We go, now!" I said to Void and the rest who came by.Void and I flew into the school from where the girl was thrown out. They were in there all right. They fired a rifle. It hit Void when he was aiming his crossbow which caused it to ricochet from a wall and almost hit the bound students in the corner.
"Traitor!" An angel said thrusting his sword towards me. I fell to the floor to avoid his stab. I firmly gripped his own grip to the sword and tossed his on his back. He was disarmed and I stabbed him using his own sword. Another angel came for me with a bulky ax. I switched my scythe to a sword and blocked. I was shot at my arm and the weight started to become a problem. Void got up from the shot and he sliced the legs of the angel who struck me. It pushed my own weight forward against him and stabbed my blade into his chest. Void quickly loaded his crossbow and fired at the last angel before he could do anything else.
We untied the ropes that wrapped up the students and they were rather dumbfounded with who we are and our own actions."Rade! Void!" Kika exclaimed entering the room.
"Where were the two of you?" I asked.
"We were checking out the rest of the classrooms," Flecin panted.
"There's more?" Void panicked.
"Yes, but thing is. The students are already free," Kika explained.
"How?" I thought.
"The students didn't want to say who," Kika said, "so. . ."
Syf. How is he hated that much?We went outside and all the students gathered fighting off the reinforcement angels just as the girl said before. I looked behind me because I felt a strange heat. An angel was in flames screaming and turned to crisp then light and nothing. Magic truly is a mesmerizing and terrifying element all at once. From any direction I see there was lightning, fire, thrown potions and different kinds of spells.
"Wear this before you get hurt," Void said handing me my cloak.
"Yes, that will be helpful," I replied in thanks.
"I'm out of mana. . ." a student sighed. Slowly all the students lost their magic powers due to their limit.
"We may have to fight the rest," I said to the rest.
"Can. . . I. . . help?" A familiar voice said behind us. None other than Syf.
"Can you fight?" I asked.
"Yes. . ." he said plainly showing a palm of a hot fireball. So hot that there was a strange power from within himself.
"There aren't many angels left," I said stating from a group of ten running towards our direction.
Syf opened his book that hovered in front of him. His cloak hovered from the power of the book and the aura that surrounds him became a visible fire. He held out a hand with the force of a shove and an explosion of fire erupted in front of him causing knock-back and burnt the angels before anyone could realize what had happened.
I think I now understood why people think of him as a monster, but what he did shouldn't have scared anyone. The explosion of fire created a barren earth from the angle the fire was blasted.
"My spells. . . are stronger than normal. . . but I get. . . tired after. . . using spells. . . a couple times. . ." Syf stated.
"You were also the one who helped everyone from the ropes right?" I asked.
Syf looked at me then the other students who wanted no attention from him. He nodded as if he was disappointed.
"You did good, Syf. You did good," I assured.
"Syf. . ." The headmaster walked towards us. "I saw what you did and what good you are. I'm sorry, I was held captive and it took me a while to get up after I fainted."
Fainted? Geez old man, take a break! I thought.
"During your spell, I saw you smile."
Syf looked up then back at the floor as if it were the right thing to look at.
"You know, Syf. You are already smart enough for this school. I've always admired you for doing your best no matter the cause. You two, yes you, shadow and angel. It's alright, I won't let the students attack."
Nervously Void and I looked at one another and revealed ourselves to Syf and he looked surprised.
"It seems like a good group I can trust if this miracle can happen. Is it alright with you all that you take Syf along with your journey?"
Syf looked at the headmaster with a surprised face.
"You came to me to learn how to control your power. You know how to now which means you can continue where you left off with them," the headmaster explained, "is that all right with you all?"
"I don't mind," Flecin said.
"No objections," Kika added.
Void looked at me and smiled with a shrug.
"Welcome aboard, Syf." I said to him and I saw a glimpse of color in his eye that reflected against the sun's light. He looked back at the school then at us and smiled.
"Th-Thanks. . ." He said to all of us.Extra
(Later)"I feel kind of bad to Syf. We didn't even leave town yet and he's already having to sleep outside," Void said looking at him.
"I'm. . . fine. . ." Syf said assured. He seems happy.
"Void. . . help me with the fire please?" I asked.
"This is getting nowhere. . ." Void said.
Syf lit a small fire over his finger and lit the set up campfire and begun to eat the materials used. Flecin laughed over the amusement.
"Syf is officially the most valuable ally," I said.
Kika just came by and heard what I just said. "Hey! Who cooks for you?!"
