"Nothing. . ." Void moaned, "that was the fifth weapon shop here too. . ."
"I'm sure we can find something," I assured walking to sit near a fountain.
"I think I'd rather stand," Void said.
"Right, I forgot," I apologized forgetting he is fragile against water.
"I think I know a weapon that may fit you," Guardian spoke from the shadow crystal in Void's cloak pocket, "remember my grave?"
"What? That would take a while to get back there," Void said.
"Yes, well. Let's say that. . . well, you left my halberd there. Having being possessed by me, you should have a grasp on how to use it."
Void looked like he drank a cup of bitterness. "Well, is that alright with you, Rade?"
"I don't mind going. But at least let us all heal up first before departing. The damage we sustained is still healing."
"Right," Void agreed. We came back to the hotel and Fang looked like he just woke up and was cleaning out his pistol.
"Hey, you okay?" I asked.
"I feel a little bad for barely fighting against those jerks," he replied sadly that he didn't have much of a chance to fight.
"You'll get the hang of it. It's not common for humans of Earth to use melee weapons. With enough practice, you should be able to gain accuracy." I said.
"I guess. . . Also. I think I recovered a memory from that blow to the head."
"Really?" Void came in the conversation, curiously.
"Yes. I remember walking in the woods. The leaves were falling and everything felt great. There was this person next to me, I don't remember who she is."
"She?" I questioned.
"She sounded like it."
"Interesting. Well, that's another step in recovering, not much else for Guardian's."
"I'm sure I'll remember some things along the way," Guardian spoke from the crystal in Void's pocket.
"Well, I'm going to sleep," I said.
"But it's still early," Void said.
"Well, there's nothing else to do. Might as well treat my body with care, today," I explained slumping onto the bed without a care except for falling off.~~~
"Here," I heard the bandit at the inn desk.
"You are all in poor condition! Don't make this difficult!" The desk service said.
"No, it doesn't seem right. Just think of this as thanks," he pleaded.
"Alright, alright. Please take care."
"Same to you!"
Xane and I faced one another and I wanted to hear what he did.
"It doesn't seem right that they gave us the best rooms for a cheaper price because we were injured," Xane explained, "it's alright, I have my own coin. Here, I have too much."
"I don't want your money. I only wanted to know what you did and why," I responded.
"So, was my explanation acceptable?"
"Yes."
"Good," he replied. As he was walking out of the inn, he turned around and tossed me a bundle of arrows.
"A little present," he said as he left.
I looked at the arrows. There were at least twenty in good condition. All pure wood. Hand crafted. I thought all arrows were only made by the finest or. . . no, it's not possible. . .~~~
I taught Syf how to play chess. I won first few times, but he quickly understood more of the game and developed his own strategies I've never seen. I enjoy his quietness, it's quite peaceful.
"Checkmate," Syf said. I looked at the situation. My king is stuck with too many pieces around it. Syf blocked any moves for my king and none of my other pieces can shield me.
"You just get better and better!" I complimented knocking over my king.
"You were. . . good too. . ." He admitted.
"We've been indoors for hours. Should we walk around town a bit? We could be leaving first thing tomorrow."
"Sure. . ."It was late in the afternoon by the time we went out, but that didn't matter. Syf and I walked together and viewed the markets. The town seemed so alive, there were people, lights, smells of food. It was nice, almost as if there wasn't a war to begin with.
I kept going and realized where Syf was. I found him staring at a window of a weapon shop. I stood at his side and noticed he was staring at the most elegant sword I've seen. However, I wonder why Syf is so fascinated with swords when he possesses magic.
"Have you used swords before?" I asked.
"Ah. . .," He didn't realize how long he was staring. He nodded.
"How come you don't wield one?"
"Terrible. . . strict. . . parents. . . " He explained pointing at his eye and arm bandages. "I had magical powers. . . and they didn't. . . like it. . ."
"Oh. . . I'm sorry, Syf," I said in truth realizing why he hides now.
"No, I'm sorry. . . Just. . . memories now. . ." He explained. He turned and we continued walking.
"Maybe get some clothes?" I asked, "it's still cold, maybe we can find some warm or spring wear when the time comes."
Syf agreed and we checked out what clothes were there.
"I think I like this one," I said trying out a small winter jacket. "We have other winter jackets, but they are mostly for mountain purposes."
"It looks. . . good on you. . ." Syf commented.
"Syf, try this out!" I said finding a short sleeved coat. "It kind of matches your robe, but maybe for hotter weather."
"I. . . don't know. . ." Syf fidgeted.
"Go on! Try it!" I said urging him.
"O-Okay. . ." He finally said.
Once he came out from the curtains I was surprised to see him not wear his large cloak, instead I see a fit and lean young man. The bandages kind of ruins it, but nonetheless, it's breathtaking.
"I feel. . . naked. . ." He admitted, embarrassed.
"You look really good in that, Syf. Really! It's cheap too! Let's buy these!"
"Well. . . alright. . ." Syf sighed with a smile.
We went to buy our clothes and the one attending the shop smiled at the two of us and said, "you two are a cute couple."
"C-Couple. . . ?!" Syf exclaimed to himself.
"O-Oh no, we're. . . we're not. . ." I tried explaining.
"Oh, please forget what I said then!" She replied chuckling a little to herself.
Once we left we both sighed and laughed. Now that I think about it, I technically am around the same age as Syf. I never thought about it. . .
"Snowing. . ." Syf said looking out.
"It sure is beautiful," I said looking at the town lights in the dark. People are still bustling about, but it is still beautiful.
"Shall we head back?"
"Yes. . ." We walked back together with a small scrunch of snow with each step.
