Industrial Town

We all knelt down at Flecin's flowery grave together in respect. We all stood and thanked the elder for having us and taking our leave to fulfill Flecin's wish to end this war for peace. My heart still ached knowing that Flecin isn't with us, she was the one who's smile would make everyone's day. I breathed in heavily and clenched the feather necklace that Flecin made me and exhaled. I took a look at the necklace and the feather looked pure. Maybe Flecin added an enchantment to it? We continued walking and walked the grassy plains. Elder said to go and find the Scion of the Land. We find her, pass her trial and she might help us. She slumbers in ancient ruins surrounded by water and within a cave. We continued to walk knowing that this objective may take a while.

"Hey, Fang!" Kika came up to me. "You've been wearing the same attire since we met you. You're practically wearing ripped cloth!"
"Yeah. . . I know, it is a little. . . torn," I smiled nervously.
"Next time we find a village or town, we're buying you a new attire."
"I understand," I said.
"I never realized this, but you have a necklace?"
"Yeah, I didn't realize until recently actually," I pulled it out and there was no symbol or anything attached to it.
"Nothing attached to it?" Kika wondered.
"Yeah, I'm not sure why."
"Hm. . . Maybe you can find something to hook with it."
"Maybe. . ." But what?

We continued walking and looked up to see angels coming for us. We all drew our weapons but as soon as we did a loud claps were fired and the angels fell and vanished into light before they crashed to the ground. We looked to the right and there seems to be a location we did not know. Void and I wore our cloaks when we walked toward where the sounds came from. We found a town, but a rather gray one. This town was hiding between mountains, probably not the most advantageous spot when it comes to war, but looking around they are heavily armed with strange weapons I have never seen before. Fang seems to recognize some of these weapons however. He explains that there are turrets, tanks and whatnot. I looked around at those who live here and they seem. . . lost. You would expect those who hold on to weapons to be serious, but it seems like these people make weapons but not use them, at least not often.
"Oof!" I accidentally bumped into a young boy.
"My bad," I said helping him up.
"No, it's fine! I have to go! Sorry, mister!" He quickly scurried off somewhere.
"He seems to have energy," Fang pointed out.
"Let's see what he's up to," Xane said.
We followed him to a clearing where there is nothing but a flat bed of gray rock much like his ash colored hair. There is a gentle jade green color in his eyes. He looked to be what Flecin's age just by sight. He was rather thin. He wore his jacket unzipped and rolled up his sleeves unlike the others, he wore shorts, but his large boots covered most of his legs. He wore dark colors unlike most humans.

He was holding a metallic cube about the size of someone's head. He tossed it into the air and the cube unfolded quickly into a flying contraption.
"A drone?" Fang whispered in awe.
He controlled the so called "drone" with his hands. He aimed it away from the village and it fired shots. This thing is fascinating!
He called the drone back and it folded back into a cube.
"Still needs work," he said to himself patting the cube. He looked up and noticed us. "Oh, hello, mister! Sorry that I bumped into you earlier!"
"No, that's fine," I replied.
"Wow, we don't get many visitors!" The boy said, "we look to be always armed so nobody comes see us."
"Well, I wish I came here sooner," Xane said looking around.
"That's a fun little thing you've got there, different from the things we've seen elsewhere," Kika said.
"Yeah, I made it myself!" The boy said raising the cube for us to see. I noticed something about his arm and looked away and tried not to say anything.
"A boy with a mind like yours sure has a gift. Are your parents around?" Lan asked.
"My parents. . . They. . ." He looked saddened.
"Ah, sorry to go there. I didn't know," Lan apologized.
"No, it's okay."
"What's your name?" Lily asked gently.
"Caliber," he replied.
"How appropriate," Lax chuckled quietly. Lily nudged him a little from the attitude.

We all introduced ourselves and Caliber's eyes widened.
"You are the ones rumors been speaking of!" He said. "Is there really an angel and shadow working together along with the other species?!"
Void and I looked at one another and agreed to reveal our wings to him.
"It should've been obvious!" He said with excitement, the only drastic emotion we have received from the residents of this village.
"Please, don't tell anyone else though, alright?" I asked, "I'm afraid we may also be targets."
"Your secret is safe with me," he promised.
"I'm. . . tired. . ." Void yawned. It was getting dark. I suppose Void didn't sleep last night and recharge, he's been awake all this time.
"Caliber, is there an inn around in town?" I asked putting my cloak back on.
"Yes, I can take you to it," he said leading the way.

We followed and it wasn't really what we expected, but then again, a town that specializes in weapons there probably aren't that many visitors that are risking their necks from other faces. It really was just a bunker built into the mountains. But, at least we can assure a safe rest.
"Thanks, Caliber," I said.
"Will I see you again?" He asked.
"You want to see us again?" Xane thought.
"I'm. . . interested in other people. I was never allowed to leave town, so I want to learn and know more of the world," he said.
"Never seen anywhere else other than here?" Kika whispered to herself.
"Sure, if that's what you want," I said.
"Cool! I'll see you tomorrow! Oh, and there should be plenty of beds in there and it even comes with a kitchen!" He hurried on home. The lights that lit up the town were really just the fires that fumed out from the bunker roofs.
"The kitchen really is just a furnace, but this works at least," Kika sighed.
"Dried leaves for beds?" Lan sighed.
"They are really living it rough out here," Fang said looking around. He walked to the wall and lit up an oil lamp. "Not the most magical place I've seen. Really industrial however."
"I wonder if there was any history of this town when it came to be," Xane thought studying the wall. The rooms were all just hard gray stone. On some surfaces grew moss hanging around.

"When I was a guardian, this was pretty much how we lived during the days of war," Guardian said.
"No kidding," I said, "we now sleep with soft silk and material as light as cloud," I explained.
"No wonder your skin is so soft," Guardian pointed out.
"Well, I'm sorry," I replied.
"I slept on harder surfaces. . . hot molten rock and blast stone," Void said.
"Right, shadows were born to suffer. . . but at least you are experiencing more things, more than the average shadow," Guardian said.
"That's true," Void said.
Void and I didn't eat anything and everyone else had their fill and tried their best to sleep. As soon as Void closed his eyes, he was snoozing as if he was a part of the rock. I closed my eyes and slept while I sat.
