(EDITED)
Hope's Peak Daily
A website created by the students of Hope's Peak Academy to gossip, post, meet friends and do other things.
This website could be accessed only by school students. Everybody Shuichi knew had an account and they were all using it for different reasons. "Atua wants to share the art through social media!" said Angie, "I want to show off some of my photos!" said Mahiru, a girl from a different class, "I just like talking to people!" said yet another girl.
Saihara didn't really want an account, but Kaede forced him to get one anyway. "It'll be fun! You'll get to make new friends!". Saihara was reluctant to the idea. Saihara was not the kind of person to post things or anything. Social media wasn't really his thing. He preferred his books over talking to people and sometimes, Kaede thought it was all his life was. A person locked in a no-escape library. But there was also another reason.
Shuichi's life was slightly messy. Nobody knew why. Even Shuichi couldn't really figure out the source of the problem. But he knew what feelings resonated within him during this time. He also knew that even if he knew what they were, he couldn't address them properly. Alone even if he was surrounded by his closest, optimistic friends, Sad even though there's no reason to, Dull with a view that showcased a life with no color. But most importantly...
Empty.
Something or someone was missing in Shuichi's life. What it was that he was exactly missing, he didn't know. It made him feel incomplete. When he decided to confess this to Kaede she said he needs to find that 'somebody'. And If he wasn't gonna make friends in person, he can do it on the internet. Shuichi had to admit, talking on the internet was a lot easier than to do it in person, however, he still preferred to not engage in conversations if he didn't need to. The idea that Kaede came up with was for Shuichi to join the chatroom Kaede started. She said everybody in the school can join and that we can use it to meet more people and talk daily.
It was a cool idea, especially with the fact nobody used their name in the username and the avatars were also didn't give clues. You didn't even know if you knew the person you were speaking with. Kirumi, for example, made a friend by the username "Card Queen" who turned out to be Celestia Lundenburg, a girl from a different class. And Chiaki was able to meet a programmer called Fujisaki. On this chatroom, everyone seemed to get along great.
It was late at night when Saihara joined. He had just gone through a ton of studying and just needed something, ANYTHING to ease of his nerves. He hoped Kaito or Kaede would be online, but then again the entire point of this page was to 'make new friends!'. I sighed I typed out a simple "Hello." and decided to maybe doodle on paper out of sheer boredom.
"If nobody answers in 10 minutes, I might just go to bed." Saihara said as he swirled his pen on the paper. It was silent. Saihara was just about to go to sleep when the screen lit up.
"Hi."
Saihara looked at the username. It wasn't one he could recognize. It wasn't Rantaro, Kaede, Kaito or even Maki... It was somebody by the username 'TheKingOfMischief'. He wondered what they were doing up so late at night.
"How are you?" was the message Saihara got immediately after. He then noticed a small box on the bottom. 2 people online in chat. It was just him and TheKingOfMischief. "Fine I guess, I just had lots of homework dropped on me by Ms. Yukizome" Yukizome was our school teacher. She was very nice and supportive. But when it came to homework...
Oh boy.
"Yeah, I hate her. She's a bitch. She also happened to drop on me a lot of homework today so you're not alone."
