Ouma and Saihara were playing tag in the woods, not far from Shuichi's home. "You can't catch me Saihara-chan! I'll always be faster than you~!" he giggled as he looked back at Saihara who was still trying to catch him. "How do you have so much energy?!" Saihara breathed out, tired from running after the purple-haired boy. They've been best friends for years and tag was a game they often played together. Ouma always won, mostly because of his large consumption of sugary drinks.

Suddenly however Ouma tripped on a rock and fell to the ground. "Got...you?" Saihara finally caught up, but Ouma wasn't happy. Saihara then looked down. There was a bruise on his knee. It wasn't serious, but judging by the tears pricking his eyes, it hurt. "O-Oww..." he hissed, with Saihara unsure what to do. He didn't like to see Ouma cry, so how could he help him? He then remembered something his mother did every time he got hurt.

He crouched down and kissed Ouma's knee. Ouma blushed before Shuichi looked at him with a smile. "Does it feel better?" Saihara asked to which Ouma blinked before hiding his face in his scarf from what Saihara could only assume to be shyness. "Y-Yeah..." he said, his voice muffled by the scarf fabric. Shuichi smiled. "Good! Let's go back to my house and play something else, okay?" he said taking Ouma by the hand. Ouma quickly recovered from his blush and just smiled. "Okidokey!" he said following behind Saihara.

Shuichi was sitting on a bench, reading a book while Ouma read a different one next to him. He had no other friends, so what else was he supposed to do. "Hey Saihara-chan" he suddenly spoke up, looking away from the book. "Huh? What is it Ouma?" he said looking back at his best friend.

"Kiss me."

"Wha-?! Why?!" Saihara said flustered. "Cause this book says that people that like each other kiss." he said blankly looking Shuichi in the eyes as Saihara hid his face in his hands even at the idea of kissing. "I-I think that's when people love each other Ouma..." he said to which Ouma looked at him sadly. "But I love my dear Saihara-chan! D-Don't you love me back...?" Saihara panicked as tears once again pricked the boy's amethyst eyes. However, he quickly recovered, giggling. "Silly, Saihara! I know that you love me! But yeah we're not ready for that. And besides who would want to kiss ugly Saihara!" he said as he looked back to his book. Shuichi sighed of relief that Ouma was no longer crying but felt a bit sad when he said that he'd never kiss him. Huh, that's strange.

However, he ignored it and continued to read his book.

Shuichi looked around frantically, trying to find his friend Ouma. During recess, Ouma simply disappeared from sight and Shuichi, being the friend that constantly worries went around to search for him. After a while of looking, he found him.  However, he wasn't happy when he found him. In fact, he was terrified. Ouma had bruises and a few cuts on his face and was sitting on the ground silently crying to himself.

"O-Ouma!? What happened?!" he said immediately going up to his friend. "U-Uhh...I fell..." he hissed out standing up, his legs shaking. "Down the stairs? It's not possible for you to fall down the stairs three times a week, I know that's a lie." Shuichi said. Ouma looked at the ground sadly. Shuichi sighed, sat down next to Ouma and hugged him tightly. He obviously wasn't getting an answer so comforting him was probably the only thing he could do.

"Saihara-chan, am I a freak?" Ouma suddenly asked and Shuichi's eyes widened. He closed his eyes only, hugging his friend tighter. "No Ouma. You're not a freak. You're my friend and don't you ever think lowly of yourself, cause you're not. You're not." he said running his hand through Ouma's hair, knowing it would calm him down. However, no matter what Shuichi said, Ouma wouldn't stop crying. Eventually, Shuichi pulled away and kissed Ouma on the forehead. Ouma immediately stopped crying, his face showing a look of confusion.
