A crunch of leaves could be heard as the hunter walked on the autumn leaves.
Shuichi had been a hunter ever he was a child. It hadn't been exactly what he was passionate about but it was something he was good and rewarded for and being in a tough financial spot didn't really give him a choice in quitting. He could barely afford his little cottage at the outskirts of town. But recently that changed.
A king had summoned him to his kingdom saying he heard of his accomplishments as a hunter and was willing to pay a high fee if he kills the wolf eating their livestock and terrorising his daughter Sonia whenever she goes near the forest.
He was told to bring his body to the king. And said he had as much time as he wanted to kill it as long as the deed was done by the end of the year. And after a while of contemplation, he agreed leading him here.
He had a knife secure by his side and a crossbow on his back with poisoned arrows. Being a person he was, if he needed to kill something, it didn't deserve to suffer a lot and the poison would work painlessly. However it had already gotten dark and he found no sign of the wolf.
It was then Shuichi heard a sound coming from the nearby grass. His hand wandered from the knife when a boy emerged from the bushes.
He had purple short hair and curious purple eyes. There was a scarf around his neck He had a purple cape around his neck with a hood on his head along with a black wool sweater and white pants and shoes. There was a basket in his hands, its contents covered with the same checkered pattern. Saihara immediately pulled away from the knife.
"Nishishi~ What's this? I have never seen anyone walk down this trail anymore." the boy spoke with curiosity, putting a finger to his lips "Haven't you heard of the big bad wolf living around the area?" he asked.
"O-Oh, yeah everyone is afraid of the area. That's why nobody goes here but what are you doing here?" Shuichi asked. The boy pouted but looked over at his basket revealing shrubs, herbs, and different plants.
"I asked first but if you must know I live here. My house is in the forest. I'm Kokichi by the way" The boy reached out his hand with a smile Shuichi shaking it only to realize there was a buzzer. Kokichi giggled softly.
"Nishishi! Never trust a handshake from a stranger! Now, how about you? Are you a hunter?" he asked. Shuichi nodded. This seemed to alarm Kokichi for a moment judging by the slight panic in his eyes but disappeared as quickly as it appeared. Kokichi looked up at the sky.
"It's getting dark. Would you like to stop by my place for some tea... uhhh.. ?" the boy said, Shuichi realizing he hasn't introduced himself.
"Shuichi... Name's Shuichi Saihara..." he said "And I'd love to." he said with a smile.
"You're weird for trusting a stranger like me to come to my home in the woods. What if I want to kill you? Or eat you like the wolf in Red Riding Hood? " Kokichi giggled mischievously. The hunter was about to respond but Ouma just laughed "But that's a lie! Or is it? Who knows..." the boy said. Shuichi nodded.
The two-headed in the direction of Ouma's home with Ouma-kun constantly saying jokes and lies. To Saihara he found Kokichi to be an intriguing fellow, to say the least. Eventually, they got to the place.
It was a small home, one could say quite cozy. There was a small garden next to the home with a variety of flowers and shrubs. Kokichi skipped over to his home before opening the door and welcoming Shuichi inside.
Shuichi sat by the table as Kokichi started to make tea. Shuichi watched him before the purple head sat down. He smiled at Shuichi a bit.
"Sooo Mr. Hunter you're here to hunt the wolves roaming these woods?" Kokichi asked.
