(Idk if I should put a warning since this happens in all my stories but dark shit happens. Not proofread)

Friendship bracelets.

Kaede and Tsumugi were the ones to introduce the trend to the V3 class in Hope's Peak Elementary. They gave them to everyone and eventually showed how to make your own. Nobody why the trend was so popular but at the end of the month, almost everyone had a friendship bracelet, even if they didn't wear it.

People would go crazy for them, making rumors that the bracelets were everlasting and would only break when one person died or decided not to be friends anymore with one even saying those who wore the bracelets would die on the same day.

They even started getting creative with the look of their bracelets with Colorful embroidery strings and additional charms hanging from the bracelets.

Tenko, Angie, and Himiko had matching colorful ones in the color of blue, yellow, and red.

Kaede and Miu had matching pink ones with a heart charm hanging off of the bracelet.

Rantaro, Kiibo, and Tsumugi also had ones in the blue and green colors.

Kaito and Maki had galaxy bracelets on them, even though theirs were in their lockers and not on their wrists most of the time.

And Kokichi... didn't have one

This didn't surprise him much. He didn't have close friends so except for the one Kaede gave him, the one she gave to everyone, he didn't have a bracelet. But eventually, he found a friend he could call his own and make one for.

"Students, I'd like to introduce you to your new classmate!" Mrs. Yukizome spoke in her cheerful tone as the new kid stood shyly next to her covering his eyes with the black baseball hat he had on.

"M-My name is S-Shuichi Saihara..." he stuttered nervously gripping onto his hat. He had dark navy hair and amber eyes with long eyelashes. There was a small blush on his cheeks showing how nervous he was. Ouma watched the boy with fascination. He had a knack for figuring out characters as soon as they came through the door, yet this boy he had issue deciphering at first glance.

"Shuichi, sit next to Ouma-kun" Yukizome said as she glanced back Ouma signaling him to stand up. He sighed and did as he was told, removing his backpack from the seat next to him allowing the boy to sit next to him. The two of them stayed quiet until Ouma-kun inevitably got bored of hearing Yukizome talk and pulled out a detective novel from his bag, sliding it under the notebook. After a few minutes of reading, he noticed the boy stare over his shoulder at the book.

"It's rude to stare y'know~" Ouma giggled making Shuichi's cheeks flush. It surprised Ouma how easy it was to fluster him.

"A-Ah I'm s-sorry...I just noticed you were reading The Hope Criminal series..." he whispered. Ouma looked at the Shuichi, now interested.

"You like The Hope Criminal books too?" Ouma spoke happily. Saihara-chan nodded. For the first time in a while, Ouma found someone with a similar to him. He smiled.

"What's your favorite book?" he asked. Shuichi grinned.

"The one where the thief steals the diamond necklace from the museum during a cocktail party." he said cheerfully. The two continued to talk until Yukizome realized they were talking.

"Ouma-kun I know you and Shuichi wanna talk but you'll have just as much time to talk during the break as you do during the lesson so wait until then." she said before turning to the chalkboard and continuing to write stuff on it. But even though they got scolded the two were happy anyway.
