(Somebody once requested this, sadly I can't remember the username but I hope they see it. Now I don't know much about Kitsune so I had to make a bit of research first but I still ended up twisting the facts a bit to fit my idea. Also I'm getting much more comfy with hurting Shuichi)

In this world exist creatures like Kitsune.

Kitsune were pesky creatures, trickster beings messing with the life of humans and making their life horrible. To them, they were a nuisance but there were things humans did find them useful for...such as meat and clothing.

In the hunter world, Kitsune was the most valued thing on the market. Consuming the flesh of a Kitsune or possessing at least one of its tails was said to give you magical abilities.

All of what was said was total BS.

But it was a lie most of the population bought without evidence. Kitsune were expensive and brought profit which is why they were hunted. And Shuichi had the curse of being born to the ultimate hunter family which as his father said 'lived on for generations so he should quit being a disappointment and live up to the family name'.

Personally, Shuichi hated the idea of killing another being, whether it'd be a human or an animal. He was a pacifist by nature. But his father wouldn't accept such an answer so today he decided to do a little something. And by that I mean...

Kick Shuichi outside with only a knife and say he's not welcome back until he brings a Kitsune's tail home.

This meant Shuichi was officially trapped outside in the cold with no food, clothing clearly not suited for the weather with the only way to go back home is to murder an animal. He walked through the forest aimlessly hoping to encounter a kitsune soon so he can just get home as he was freezing. But as hours passed, not a single one has appeared before him. He stopped at a clearing and curled up into a ball, crying. It was cold, very cold. He shivered as the wind continued to intensify with every second.

He sighed. He stood up and continued walking only to trip and fall down on the dirt. His luck worsened as he fell weird on the ground, his leg aching. He glanced at it only to realize a chunk of his skin was missing due to falling on a sharp rock. He let out a hiss before standing up and continuing to walk or rather limp and try to find a kitsune...and eventually...

He found one.

The kitsune was small sitting on a rock by a waterfall relaxed. His nine tails poking out from behind him. Shuichi gasped, pulling out his knife but the creature noticed him, vanishing from his sight. Confused, he walked up closer to the rock. Where in the-?!

He was startled when the Kitsune appeared behind him making him panic. It looked at him curiously walking closer with Shuichi backing away until he was against the rock the Kitsune was on just a minute ago. He raised his knife at the creature, it not backing away clearly not intimidated. Shuichi's hand shook as he was about to stab it, only to lower the weapon.

"I...can't do it. It's too c-cruel..." he let out a sigh before feeling himself slowly the doze off from the exhaustion and cold.

Shuichi's eyes flickered open to the sound of gentle humming. He didn't recognize the place he was in. He found that his knife was missing as well as the jacket he wore outside. He was covered with a blanket in an otherwise pretty empty room. He sat up, covering himself with the warm, cozy blanket when he saw the door open.

There stood a short boy with purple hair, staring at him. Shuichi looked at him before he finally noticed that the boy wasn't a normal boy.

He was a Kitsune.
