Oumasai Oneshots

(Deaf!Ouma x Saihara) Silence

( So IMMAWHAT requested this oneshot and I wanted to get this before Monday. Hope you enjoy it)

It happened in the second year at Hope's Peak.

"Hey Miu! What idiotic device are you making now?" Ouma said walking into the inventor's research lab as she stayed busy in her work. She was wearing noise cancelling headphones while tinkering with some device but took them off when he came in the room.

"Hey fucknut it's not an idiotic device! When it's finished I'll show you its power!" She said pointing at the unfinished device and the pile of scrap metal next to it. "And I'll show you the top 10 worst infomercial products video on Watchmojo and bet you a thousand dollars that's where it's going to be." He shot back. Miu groaned. "Ugh shut up I need to work..." she said putting back her headphones on and going away to grab a few spare parts from the storage closet. Ouma huffed and went up to a different machine. It had a red flashing button. "What does this button do?" he asked receiving no answer. He sighed and followed the natural instinct of every curious kid. He tried to press it. It was then Miu noticed what he was doing and her eyes widened in fear. "No wait! That's the self destr-" she yelled out but it was too late

BOOM!

Miu suffered minor injuries but Ouma had it worse. His parents rushed him to the hospital and nobody heard from him for a while. People started to gossipping about whether he was dead, hurt or even if it was just another one of his pranks. But nobody cared enough to confirm them in any way. But eventually

Ouma came back.

Saihara sat in his seat in the classroom, thinking about Ouma. Out of all his classmates, he was probably one of the most concerned about the trickster. Well besides Miu who began to blame herself for the accident and not throwing him out the lab the moment she saw him enter.

Soon the bell rang and everyone entered the classroom, except the teacher who was late. When the door opened, they expected to see the teacher but were met with the sight of someone else.

Kokichi Ouma.

He didn't have his casual smile and his eyes weren't radiating with mischief like they usually did. He had a tired almost sad expression. He ignored everyone and sat beside Rantaro which was weird considering he usually sat next to Kiibo. But before people started asking questions, the teacher walked in and the lesson started.

What Shuichi noticed, is that Rantaro was that every once in a while turned to Ouma. He wasn't sure what Rantaro was doing but before he had time to think about it the teacher would tell him to pay attention.

When the lesson ended Miu walked over to Ouma who pulled out a sketchbook and was heading to get out of the classroom. She grabbed him by the shoulder. "Hey shrimpdick...are you okay? I was sort of worried when you were away and-" she spoke but he ignored her and just walked out of the classroom.

"What's wrong with him? He's never this quiet..." Kaito said confused. Everyone nodded in agreement when the silence was interrupted with a sigh and a response with Amami.

"He can't hear you."

"Huh? Can't hear...?" Miu asked puzzled, obviously wishing for Rantaro to continue.

"He can't hear you. He lost 89% of his hearing due to that explosion. It was pretty powerful afterall" He sighed "If you haven't noticed, during class I was using sign language to tell him what the teacher was saying because he knew I know sign language." He said. Everyone went silent. Ouma was deaf...?
