(Ouma x Saihara) You Promised

Kindergarten, 19th of June

The kindergarten playground was filled with joy and happiness. Some kids were digging in the sandbox. Some kids were on the swings. Some kids were on the slide and some just talked.

Ouma and Shuichi were playing tag, with Kokichi being the chaser. They were best friends, despite their different natures. Soon he caught up and tripped, accidentally tacklingShuichi to the ground. He blushed for a second before giggling.

"Got you Shuichi~!" he said sweetly before getting off him and sitting down on the grass. Saihara chuckled and did the same. They stared at each other before laughing. "I always have fun with you Shuichi! It's hard for me to get bored around you!" he said grinning to which Saihara gave a small smile.

"Is that a lie?" Saihara said to which Ouma rolled his eyes "Jeez Shuichi... you're the detective here. And besides, you already know the answer, don't you?" Shuichi nodded.

"Hey, Shuichi?" Ouma said to which Shuichi gave a sign he was listening. "Can you... promise me something?" he said as he blushed, twiddling his thumbs. "I can't promise until you say it. " he replied, curious as to what Ouma was getting at.

"Promise me...promise me you'll never abandon me...like...like the other people in my life did. " he said shyly. Shuichi's eyes widened. He hasn't seen this side of Ouma much. The part where he let his emotions spill from underneath his mask. 

"I promise."

High school, 12th of December

Ouma and Shuichi remained friends from kindergarten. They were currently on the couch in Shuichi's house, watching some movie on Netflix while eating chips. They spent their evening together, doing lots of interesting things. Ouma didn't know why Shuichi spent the day with him, doing things Ouma loved most in the world. It was unusual. 

"Hey, Ouma?" Shuichi asked quietly to which Ouma stopped stuffing his mouth with his favorite chip flavor. 

"What is it Shumai?" he said cheekily, knowing that Shuichi didn't like that nickname. Shuichi shook off the slight annoyance in his mind. "I... I wanted to tell you something. Something very important I need to get off my chest." Shuichi sighed

"Is that why you brought me to my favorite places in the world?" Ouma asked cutely. "Y-Yes actually..." Shuichi stated stressed, Ouma giving his a confused look. "It's just... Ouma you've been my best friend for years. And, I really care about you but... lately I've been feeling different. Your smile, your voice, your lies, YOU. I get all these warm feelings and get really nervous. I blush, I stutter. And just a couple days ago I realized...I love you." he said nervously.

Ouma's eyes widened and started to glow. He immediately yanked Shuichi down to kiss him. "I love you too, my beloved~!" he said gently to which Shuichi blushed but grinned. 

And from that day on, Ouma and Shuichi were a couple.

High school, 1st of March

Ouma and Shuichi through a mall. As they walked Ouma suddenly stopped and looked at one of the displays. 

"Is something wrong Ouma?" Shuichi asked looking back. Ouma just turned to him, smiled and nodded. And they once again continued through the mall.
