When You Get Scared

You were in the living room with the boys when you heard a strange sound.

You went to investigate and found nothing, little do you know, Splinter snuck up behind you.

"Hello (Y/N)." He says tapping your shoulder. You scream and  jump in fear and nearly fall.

Splinter grabs your arm and pulls you in for a hug. He frowns, seeing how scared you look.

"I'm sorry my dear, I didn't mean to scare you." He says sincerely. You hug back.

"It's ok, I'm fine." You reply catching your breath. The boys run in and hug you.

"Are you ok mummy we heard you scream!" Leo says running uo to you.

You hug them and they hug back. You smile back, thinking it's adorable they we're so worried about you.

"I'm ok, Splinter just scared me that's all, thanks boys." You say kissing their heads.

Mikey pointed an accusing finger at Splinter and you laugh. "Why did you scare mummy?"

"I didn't mean to my sons, it was an accident that's all." He says glancing at me.

"Yeah he didn't mean too, but I'm ok now so it's fine." You smile, kissing Splinter.

They nod and leave to go play. You and Splinter decide to cook pancakes for breakfast.

You turn on the stove but something goes wrong and the pan catches fire.

Splinter gasps and puts the out immediately looking very upset and shaken up.

You frown. "What's the matter Splinty?" You ask. He signs. "I am fine."

"No your not, what's wrong why do you look so upset?" You ask insisting that he tells you.

"The fire, that's all...it made me remember the day I lost my beautiful wife and daughter." He admitted.

You gasp, suddenly remembering that day of the fire when you first met Splinter.

"I'm sorry Splinty, I completely forgot that day, I didn't you you had a fear of fire ."

You say as you hug him tightly, feeling very guilty about his fear. You should have known...

"It's fine (Y/N), I didn't know either." He mumbles. You hug him close.

The boys run in again. "Mummy did you scream again?" Donnie asks worriedly.

You smile. "No Donnie um Splinter kind of has a fear of fire." You say quietly.

"It's true, but I am fine my sons, do not worry about me." He smiles patting them.

They say ok and hug you both before running off to play. "We will need to tell them one day."

You nod somemly. "Yeah, when their a bit older, they are only four."

Splinter meditates a while to calm his shaken nerves. You cuddle with the boys all day.

"Mummy, is Splinter ok?" Mikey asks quietly. You smile. Mikey is selfless, always thinking about others.

"Yes sweetie, he is alright, when you boys are older we will tell you the full story." You promise.

They nod without a word. You spend the rest of the day with your beloved family.

"Everyone is afraid of something."
