When They Ask You Questions

They are 6 and a half now.

Your sons are getting more and more curious every day. They are always asking you and Splinter questions.

Leo walks to you one day looking very curious. "Mummy, can I ask you a question?" He asks.

You nod. "Of course you can, what's your question?" You reply sitting him on your knee.

Leo hesitates before looking up at you. "Who's in that picture?" he points to the framed photo.

You sigh. It's a picture of you and Yoshi before you got mutated. How are you going to explain this?

"Well sweetie, that's me and your father." "We were human once, that was when we first met." You say.

He nods. "So you were humans?" "Why are you and Splinter rats now?" He asks in confusion.

"Well...when you are a bit older we will tell you all  the story but for now, I don't have an answer." You reply.

"Ok mummy." He smiles, feeling satisfied with your answer. When they are older you will tell them.

"What is going on?" Splinter asks. You sigh and tell him. "Leo asked how we got mutated."

Splinter nods running a hand through your fur. "What did you tell him?" He asks calmly.

"That we would explain when there are older." You sigh. you feel a bit guilty that you couldn't answer Leo's question.

"Good idea, do not worry (Y/N), you cannot answer every question they have." He says.

He wraps you in a hug and you feel a little less guilty. Everything will be fine.

Later, Raph walks in looking very upset. "I have a question mummy." He mumbles.

You pick him up and snuggle him. "What's the matter Raphie?" You ask.

"Do you think I'm mean?" He asks in almost a whisper that your barely hear him.

"Of course not Raphael, why would I think that?" You ask in shock.

"Mikey said I was mean when I yelled at him for petting Spike." "He said I was the meanest brother ever." a

You gasp and huh him tighter. "Oh Raphie, you are not mean." "You have a slight temper, but you are not mean."

He frowns. "But I yelled at Mikey." "I am mean mummy." He says again.

"Everyone gets mad at times, I get mad sometimes and yell at your father, but I am not mean." You say.

"Yeah but that's not that bad, I get angry and hit sometimes and it makes me feel bad."

"One time I got so annoyed with your father that I slapped him with my pillow." You add.

He laughs at that. "Ok mummy, thanks." He says as he hugs you and goes to his room.

Splinter kisses you from behind. "Did Raphael ask a question?" He asks smiling.

"Yeah, poor Raphie asked if he was meant but I helped him feel better." You say.

Splinter nods. "He has a temper and angers quickly, but Raphael is not mean."

You grin. "That's what I told him, there are very curious aren't they?" You laugh.

You were watching TV when Donnie sits in your lap out of nowhere.

"Mummy, can you answer a question for me?" He asks politely.

"Yeah, what's the question honey?" You ask as you turn off the TV and look at Leo.

"Well....can I have my own lab?" "I really, really want a place to do my experiments and build stuff!"

You think a moment. A lab is a good idea but you will need to talk to Splinter first.

"That's a good idea sweetie, but I need to ask your father first." You say honestly.

He nods and hugs you. "Thanks mummy!" He cheers before running back to his room.

Splinter comes in a while later. "What did Donatello request?" He asks jokingly.

"He wanted his own lab...I told him I'd talk to you about it first, what do you think?" You ask.

"I think Donnatello needs a lab, I will get to work on cleaning the spare room." "Do not tell Donnatello, we will surprise him." Splinter explains.

"He'll love it..." You say happily. You think of Donnie's beaming face and smile.

You are cooking some pizza in the kitchen when Mikey strolls in looking at you excitedly.

"Mummy, can I have pizza for breakfast tomorrow?" He asks, giving you puppy eyes.

You know he will be disappointed but pizza for breakfast isn't that healthy.

"Sorry Mikey, but no...pizza for breakfast isn't that food dude you, it's better to eat it for dinner or lunch."

He sighs in disappointment before nodding. "Ok mummy...for lunch then?" He asks hopefully.

At this you say yes and he lights up in a smile. At least that made him happy!

"Mikey wanted pizza for breakfast." You tell Splinter later that night.

He laughs. "Yes, Michaelangelo loves pizza...you said no right?" Splinter asks.

"Yeah, I said no." "They are getting curious aren't they Yoshi?" You sigh.

"Yes (Y/N), they are asking and learning how the world works, they are getting older."

You remember when then were all little babies, babbling and having you hold them.

"Your sons sure are curious."
