The turtles are 6

Today's a very big day for your little sons. They are going to learn how to read for the very first time! So exciting!

You though of teaching them when they were 5, but they just weren't yet ready which is why you waited for a while longer!

Splinter found an old story book for toddlers in his room that he was going to give to Miwa but unfortunately never got the chance.

So, that's what you and Splinter are going to use to teach them! After training, you call them to the dojo.

"Are we in trouble mummy?" Leo asks nervously as you and Splinter don't normally make them stay after training.

"Not at all boys, today you are learning how to read! It may be a little challenging at first, but I know you can all do it!" You say.

They all agree to try so Splinter grabs the book and has them sit in a circle on the floor with you both in the middle.

"Ok boys, we'd like you to each read a part of the book, it's ok if you hang trouble as it's just to see what you know." Splinter announces.

Leo starts first, reading very confidently and clearly. "I a-am sam. Sam I am. T-That Sam I am. I do not l-like that Sam I am."

"Very good Leonardo, ok Raphael, it is your turn, my son." Splinter says, turning to Raph.

"W-Would you l-like green e-eggs and ham? I do n-not like them Sam I am. I do not lig-green eggs and ham." Raph reads calmly.

"You did well Raphie, ok Donnie it's your turn sweetie." You say, smiling from Raph to Donnie who immediately starts reading.

"Would you like them here or there? I would not like them here or there, I do not like them anywhere. I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like them Sam I am." Donnie reads.

"Very good job Donatello, I see you are all picking up on this fast. Michelangelo, it is your turn, my son." Splinter says happily.

Mikey gulps, looking at the page nervously. He then opens his mouth and starts to read very slowly and shakily.

"W-W-Would you l-like them in a h-h-house? W-Would you like them with um..." Mikey stops, blushing at the word.

"You can do it my son, you are doing well, just sound out the word like you did with house." Splinter encourages patiently.

Mikey gulps, looking back at the word. "Um, m-m-moose?" He tries, blushing like mad. Raph sighs loudly and impatiently.

"It's mouse! Mouse rhymes with house! Not moose, dummy." Raph yells, frustrated that Mikey was taking so long.

You are shocked by your son's sudden rude outburst and name calling and immediately scold him.

"Raphael! That wasn't very nice. Mikey is trying to read, go ahead sweetie." You say, turning to Mikey who looks upset.

"I d-do not l-like them in a h-house. I do not l-like them w-with a m-mouse. I do not like them here or t-there, I do not like them...uh um..." Mikey trails off again, unhappy.

"Take your time my son, sound the letters out. I know you can do it, just try your best." Splinter praises, smiling a little smile.

"A-A-Any um any um I dunno" Mikey says sadly, unable to sound out the long word. The letters are all jumbling up.
