Chapter 30

Jillian’s POV

Hindi lang si Mitch ngayon ang nandito. She was followed by the gang—pero may kulang. Wala si Renz. Maybe he didn’t decide to go with them because Mitch was in the picture. Oo nga naman. That would just cause a bedlam. Ayaw naman siguro nilang mag-away right in front of everyone, right? I think they made a right decision.   

But before I even bore away, I have to think of an excuse. This crappy situation had gotten me into trouble.  

What in the world is Cyrus doing on my lap? He could have slept at the other side of the couch but why on me? Is he thinking abnormally?

I cleared my throat. The ambience here is suffocating. Lahat sila ay nakatingin sa akin, na tila ba mayroon akong ginawa sa akin. Ang awkward pa ra sa akin. And yes, sa akin! Cyrus is acting coolly as if nothing happened. Which is making me more delirious!

Nang makita ko si Mitch na palapit sa amin, mahina kong nasampal si Cyrus dahil sa sobrang gulat ko. Hindi ko kinaya ang pagkabog ng dibdib ko sa kaba kaya nagawa ko ‘yun. That was very lame and stupid but no one can blame me. That was my weird escape.

Thank God after doing it, he woke up. Nakita niyang parating sina James mula sa pinto kaya na-gets niya kung bakit ko nagawa ‘yun. Hindi na siya nagreklamo pa.

Ang hirap huminga sa ganitong paligid. Mitch is especially making it hard for me. She is shooting deadly glares at me.  

“Pardz, juice,” ani ni James habang inaabutan ng juice si Cyrus. What’s so almighty about him? Kinuha niya ito mula kay James at nagpasalamat. Suddenly, he has manners, huh.

Ilang minuto na ang nakakalipas pero ‘yung tingin sa akin ni Mitch hindi pa rin naalis. “Uy,” sita ni James sa kaniya.

She’s over-reacting! I haven’t explained yet tapos ganito na siya sa akin. But wait . . . why do I have to explain? It wasn’t my fault! Si Cyrus naman ang dahilan kung bakit napunta ako sa ganitong sitwasyon, eh. He should man up and take full responsibility of this.

“Explain this, will you?!” Mitch demanded while crossing her arms. Trial court ba ‘to? Not guilty plea!

“Ano bang ie-explain ko?” Tinignan ko si Cyrus. I actually am mentally pleading him to back me up.  

Fortunately, I was able to communicate my message to him. That was a good note.

He cleared his throat and started explaining. “Ganito kasi ‘yan. Lutang kasi siya kanina pa. Sabi ko sa kaniya ikuha niya ako ng unan para makatulog ako ng maayos pero hindi niya ako pinansin. Dahil doon, nakatuwaan kong humiga sa lap niya. I was just actually fooling around but the woman was busy drifting in Neverland. Hindi ko napansin na nakatulog na ako ng tuluyan. That’s it. How’s the story?”

He was very composed. Hindi ko alam kung ikatutuwa ko ba ‘yung pagiging ganoon niya.
