Chapter 63

Few days after Duck's arrival, he had become very busy with ACADS. He spent so much time catching up for his grades. Madami siyang lakad na hindi napuntahan. It's because after his classes, he reviews for his special exams. I understand his pain, really. Naaawa din naman ako sa kaniya. Sometimes, he calls me to share his dilemma. I laughed at him, but I sincerely understand what he's going through. And as much as I want to be with him, I can't just tell him to go out of his house and bond with us. That would definitely make me such a bad influence. I want him to focus, but I admit, I kind of missed his annoying voice. Ilang araw na din niya akong hindi bina-badtrip. Posible pala na ma-miss ang isang tao dahil nakakairita siya.

On the other hand, I came back to the usual routine. After class, nagpupunta ako sa Bistro. Madalas, kasama ko sina Japheth kapag wala silang ginagawa. Medyo naging busy din kasi si Bautista dahil sa school works ni Jonas. He's helping his little brother cope up with his projects. Mula ng iwan sila ng Mommy niya, siya na halos ang sumasalo sa mga parental duties. Busy din kasi ang Dad niya sa trabaho.

After shift, kumain kaming lahat, pero hindi na sa Bistro. We went to Town Square and had our midnight snack. Puro junkfood ang binili nina Guian. Because of it, Nick bought a lot of yakult for all of us. He's really germaphobic. He hadn't moved on with his bacteria thingy. Nadadala niya pa din sa ilang instances. Madalas ay pinupuna ko siya. Fortunately, he never denies it. He's a bit defensive, though.

"Nakaka-miss ang bulalo ng Leslie's," Guian said out of the blue. He's currently mooning while holding his V-cut.

"True!" I agreed, remembering the time when we went to Tagaytay just because we're bored. Bumili kami ng bulalo for take-out, tapos bumili kami ng bowl kung saan namin linagay ang bulalo. We searched for a parking lot with nearby trees and we went to the roof of the car and stayed there, while eating our not so poise-giving kind of meal. "Ulitin natin 'yung mga ganoong roadtrips!" I gleamed.

"Nice. Sociable na siya. Dahil diyan, ito ang korona mo," Mitch said while acting like she was transferring a crown on my head. I rolled my eyes because of it. Fine, I admit that I am socially inept. But, do they really have to rub it on my face? Minsan kasi nao-overpower ng pagiging introvert ko ang extrovert side ko. Lagi lang libro at The Vampire Diaries marathon ang kumakain ng oras ko. Kasalanan ko ba na hindi lang ako into people masyado? Achievement na nga sa akin na nagkaroon ako ng kaibigan bukod kina Mitch, Renz, Third at Alec. They can't blame me, though. It's been rough for me. I had my issues. Kaya nga kahit noong high school, hindi ko pa din ma-consider na friends sina Candice at PJ. I refer them as my classmates. Labelling everyone as my friends is really unrealistic.

Nagbago lang ang lahat nang mag-college ako. Because of Cyrus, I met quite a lot of people. I learned how to appreciate the value of being in a group. At least, hindi na ako stuck up sa sarili kong mundo.

"Shut it. Not funny," I tried to be sour at them.

"Bisitahin kaya natin si Cy? Kawawa naman 'yun," James suggested. Nagpantig ang tainga ko. Nakaramdam ako ng pagkabog sa dibdib ko. Which was weird. The mere mention of his name makes my heart flutter. What is wrong with me?

"Huwag na. Hayaan niyo siyang mag-review." I faked my nonchalance. But the truth is, I wanted to see him, too. Kaso, kapag sa akin nanggaling, awkward naman. Magaling pa naman si Mitch na mang-tsismis. She's really annoying when she mimics Boy Abunda with her interrogating style. Plus, her naturally high-pitched voice which cracks my eardrums.

"You're rude! Give him a break. Masyado na siyang fed up sa school," she replied. I eyed her because of it. Seriously?

"I think she's right, pardz," ani Japheth. Now that he has spoken, I think I should really consider. Minsan lang kasi magsalita si Japheth. He's such a quiet guy. And a mature one, too. He sees things in a larger view.
