“Are you nervous?”

We had arrived at Yoongi’s Grandma’s block and in another few minutes we would be there.

“No. not at all. I love your grandma. She reminds me lot of my own granny. Well, you can say that I was close to my grandma than to my mom.”

“You haven’t told me that before.”

“Well, you know that I am from a not-so-going-good-family. Dad left us frequently for days and we actually lived a lot with our grand parents. I think, they knew that things were not going to be good for mom, so specially, the grandparents looked after me.” I managed a small smile.

“It was to my grandma that I called first when my first period happened. I did not want to tell mom.” A meaningful silence followed and I continued. “That tells a lot, I guess.”

“It really does.” Yoongi intertwined his fingers with mine and squeezed my hand reasuarringly. “You are really distant from your eomma and appa, but I don’t blame you. For parent’s wrongs, kids should not suffer. Don’t I know that as well? My parents are obsessed with my brother. I don’t know if they remember my existence anyway. Luckily, my halmeoni loved me enough.”

“I cannot agree more. But at least you are better off being independent unlike me and you are loved a lot as a matter of fact,” I assented as I smiled in full. I just loved these deep conversations with him.

“Two broken souls met each other and mended each other.” Yoongi flashed his gummy smile. “Oh, we are almost here!”

We were indeed near halmeoni’s home, but there was a black sedan parked in the garden.

“Yoongi, who .. could that be?”

When I turned to Yoongi I could see that he was gritting his teeth. He muttered under his breath, “Did they have to plague us today?”

“Kristene, look here. We are going in because it is halmeoni who invited us.”

“Yoongi, who is that?”

“My parents.”

I gulped.

“We can come back in another time, Yoongi-ah. I don’t want you to be uncomfortable.”

“I can manage, sweetheart. I am worried about you. You know what, my parents are blunt and now you have to be super strong.” Yoongi held my shoulders tightly and looked in my eyes. “Can you do that?”

“Yes. I did not venture to be Min Yoongi’s girl for nothing anyway.”

That made Yoongi land a peck on my cheek. “That is my girl.”

We held hands as we went through the door.

“Annyeonghaseyo, eomeoni and abeoji,” Yoongi bowed at the couple that was having their breakfast at the table. Halmeoni looked so small beside them and she had an apologetic look. I smiled at her to tell that Yoongi and I got this.

“Hello son” Yoongi’s father said. “So this must be the girl of the rumours.”

Annyeonghaseyo, it is a pleasure and an honour to be acquainted with you, sir.”

“Oh, her language is well flowing,” Yoongi’s mom who was wiping her mouth on the tissue turned to me. “What is your name?”

“Thank you for the compliments, ma’am. I am Kristene Andrews.”

“More than 2 points of mean average and likely to be a lawyer, am I right?” she asked.

“Yes, that is correct,” I said.
