Aiden's PoV (Part 2)

The next day, Aiden opened his eyes to hear his mother mercilessly yelling at him. "You left the tap running, you fool!" she was saying. Aiden blinked, confused. True enough, there was water running out from the tap and gushing over the sides of the sink.

His mom pounded on the door again. "SHUT IT OFF!" she yelled. Aiden groaned, rubbing his eyes and slamming the faucet down to shut off the water. He wasn't feeling anything.. but maybe except the pain in his stomach every time he thought of Jesse.

Placing his hand on top of the calm water, Aiden let it float there, wondering what would happen if he just... died. Vanished. Would anyone miss him? Would Jesse even miss him? "GET OUT FROM THERE!" his mom shouted, making Aiden flinch. "OR ILL THROW YOU OUTSIDE!"

Aiden started to cry, unable to take it anymore. He started to punch the walls, crying hard. "Please stop- stop making this a HELL FOR ME!" he shouted to his mom. He swallowed hard, blinking back the tears and rubbing his hands, which were red.

"SHUT UP-." his mom hit the door again, and Aiden felt trapped. Trapped in his own heaven. "Please.. stop." Aiden sank to the ground, sitting in front of the sink. "You better come out or I'll throw you outside for the whole day!" Aiden looked up, his eyes stinging with tears.

All because of Jesse. He had to do this for him. Aiden squinted, spying something lying under the sink. With a shaky hand, he pulled out the item and realised it was a piece of frosted glass. A piece of dark blue glass... Jesse's favourite colour. "You hurt me-." Aiden muttered.

"So I'll hurt myself even more-." Aiden murmured, starting to cut his arms with the glass. But the pain wasn't enough, he was too far gone to even realise that he was in pain. "You did this to me." he muttered through his tears. "GET OUT FROM IN THERE!" his mom yelled, adding fuel to the fire as Aiden's arms were red and sore, but not bleeding.

Truthfully, he spent a lot of time thinking about death. Because if he died, that would be the end of his life... he was scared of death, but not scared of pain. Suddenly, the door burst open, sending the glass cutting straight into Aiden's arm. "What the HELL do you think you're doing?!" his mom exclaimed.

Aiden stayed quiet, examining his bleeding arm. "You want to get hurt? I can help." His mom said, grabbing Aiden's other arm. "Mom.." Aiden murmured weakly. His mom threw him into a room, where they kept their extra things like tools and canned food.

Aiden wasn't really paying attention as his mother started to hit him. But what caught his attention was the light at the other end of the room, the light to outside. But one lash of pain woke him up, making him start to cry again. "Are you done crying?" his mom asked, glaring down at him as Aiden clutched his arms.

Aiden could feel a pain at the back of his head where his mother had thrown him against the wall. "I.. I'm done. I'm done.." Aiden cried, watching blood run down his arm and onto the floor. "Good, now stay in here." His mom left the room, leaving the piece of long wood she used to hit him with in the same room as him.

Aiden leaned his head against the wall, his tears mixing with the blood. Maybe there was too much blood.. he turned around, and stared at the wall, where there was a large patch of blood. Was he.. Aiden reached up with shaky hands and touched the back of his head. It came away covered in the crimson.

Was he going to bleed to death? Was he ever going to escape? But if he ever wanted to see Jesse.. he had to escape from this room. Aiden weakly slid across the floor, and rattled the doorknob. It came open, making him fall out of the closet.

He had enough.. Aiden cried softly, grabbing the doorknob and pulling himself up. "I had.. enough." Aiden said to himself as blood dripped onto the floor behind him, leaving a trail.

He was broken, but he didn't want to let anyone see that. He wanted to pretend his life was okay behind that smug smile he had. He wanted people to like him, to erase everything his mother had done to him. She broke him, and he broke himself.

Grabbing his phone, Aiden looked through his messages and felt really empty. There was only one message from Jesse. "Call me." but didn't he know that long distance calls were expensive? Aiden shut his bedroom door quietly, so his mom wouldn't know he escaped.

He didn't want to run away, since the last time he did, he got the police involved and he knew to never trust the cops. His finger hovering over Jesse's number, he debated if he should call him or not. No.. he shouldn't. "Are you okay?" Petra, his good friend asked him.

Aiden stared at the sudden message and typed, "Yeah, you?" but.. he started to cry again, obviously not okay. He had to hide what went on in his home. So while everyone thought that Aiden was rich, fancy and kind, he was just a failure behind it all..

Aiden looked down at his phone with numb fingers. "To know when a person is depressed, they stop checking both ways before they cross the road.." a quote popped up on his feed, making him feel emptier. It was written by a girl, who lived not far from him. Apparently, she was bullied as well, but Aiden knew nothing of her.

Maybe he had to keep going. A hope that he was going to see Jesse one day, even if he liked a girl or not. He had to believe. Aiden looked up when he heard his mother approaching...
