Petra's PoV
Jesse and I stepped into the Nether, suddenly feeling the heat. "Jeez, the last time I was here was ages ago!" Jesse laughed, unsheathing his diamond sword.
I smirked at him. "Get used to it, the heat is nothing compared to what monsters you'll find here."
"Yeah, I know. There's ghasts, and skeletons." Jesse replied, looking around the hellish dimension. Fire was everywhere, and the reddish light from lava illuminated everything. He never learned, and sometimes got on my nerves when he acted dumb.
"Well, if you must know-." a loud cry from a ghast startled us. I turned just in time to see a fire charge hurling right towards me.
"Look out!" Jesse yelled, pushing me out of the way (like he always does) but unfortunately, the ball of heat just flew past us and broke the portal, making the purple light vanish.
"Oh heckmouth." Jesse muttered as I glared at him. "We have to find another way to ignite the portal. Come on!" I started to run away, heading straight for a place I knew. Jesse followed, as I heard the ghast follow us.
"Don't you have a bow and arrows?" Jesse asked, running beside me. I turned to see another fireball hurl towards us. I swung my enchanted gold sword and hit it back, right to the ghast. It screeched and vanished into a puff of smoke, gunpowder and glowing orbs.
"You were saying?" I asked Jesse, who looked at me, dumbstruck.
"How are you going to relight the portal, anyway?" Jesse asked as we continued running down a path that I had laid out during my previous visit.
"Remember when I said that there would be other monsters?" I pointed to the giant Nether Fortress in front of us.
"Whoa.. who lives here?" Jesse asked, gazing up at the red-brown bricks and eerie lights from the glowstone overhead.
I shrugged. "I dunno. I found it like this. No one has ever been inside since they didn't dare to explore. I mean, I'd obviously want to. There could be treasure inside!"
Jesse smirked. "Alright. Is that why you brought me here?" he asked. I rolled my eyes. "Well, kinda. I need to find something to light up the portal again so that we can get home! If not we're stuck here for eternity and I'm not sure I want to live here with you for that long." I teased.
"Ha.Ha. Now... how do we get in?" He asked, once again, asking a stupid question. I took out my iron pickaxe and swiftly mined my way into the fortress.
"Okay, just a heads up, there are monsters that roam through these halls. Blazes, wither skeletons, magma cubes... normal skeletons, zombie pigmen. All of them hostile, except the zombie pigman that is. But don't ever hit any of them, understand?" I asked Jesse.
"Hey, what's that glowing thing there?" I looked behind me to see that Jesse had wandered off and was pointing to a hallway. "Jeez, you're like a little kid!" I scolded him and saw that there was a blaze, floating right towards us.
"That's a blaze. Like Aiden's group of idiots. They drop blazerods. But we can repel them with these." I handed Jesse a ton of snowballs, making him look at me curiously. "Snowballs? How can these help?"
As if on cue, the blaze turned towards us and ignited into flames. "Throw them! Quick!" I exclaimed. Thank goodness Jesse's reflexes improved so much along the years because he immediately threw a snowball at the blaze.
It flashed red for awhile but it just sent back a volley of fireballs at us. "Yikes!" Jesse said, hopping out of the way as a fireball zoomed past him. Thinking quickly, I held out my hands to grab some snowballs and lobbed them at the blaze, pushing it back.
